Event Fish Guide

Periodically AbyssRium has events, they’ve become different over the months, so the specific details are in the event-specific guide now. Events only partially repeat; later events let you get old fish, usually through expensive fusion. Repeated events may lack specific fish or items from earlier events.

AbyssRium’s Hidden Fish

For hidden fusion fish, see the Fusion Fish guide instead.

As a general note, AbyssRium is a pretty buggy game, and if something requires 10 Things, don’t be particularly surprised if it doesn’t pop up after exactly 10 actions. It might take a bit of time or a few more actions to properly register, and fish will generally not pop until you’re back to the main menu if you’re taking photos/etc.

  • Legendary Sun Fish
    • Tap Sunfish vitality well over 100 times
    • This is removed from the game
  • Blue Clownfish
    • Take a picture of Percula Clownfish (orange ones)  3 times
  • Snowflake Clownfish
    • Push Twitter button 5 times in Settings
    • It’s a good idea to unlock these two immediately so you don’t end up too many Orange/red clownfish repeats
  • Randall’s Goby
    • Take 3 pictures of Gobies
  • Clown Tang
    • Take pictures of Tangs 5 times
  • Convict Tang
    • Do nothing for 1 hour
    • You must leave Abyssrium open, which means you’ll want AbyssRium in Battery Saver mode and on a charger because Abyssrium is crazy battery hungry.
  • Naso Tang
    • Own 50 Tangs
      • Fusion Tangs still count towards this number, and making Fusion Tangs will speed up this otherwise arduous process due to the Vitality boost they provide, so it’s highly recommended!
    • Obviously, you’re going to want to do this one after finishing most other objectives or your aquarium is going to be very boring
    • The time period after Z vitality is ideal to get tons of fish quickly for this
  • Jewel Damsel
    • Tap the upper left corner of screen 1,000 times (seriously)
    • Very likely requires a coral of some kind, Ruby Cabbage or lower
    • Don’t watch the Hard Worker counter while trying this, it won’t necessarily sync up. You’ll get it, just keep it up
    • Midas Tap doesn’t count for hidden fish, you’ll need to manually tap.
      • Use 3 fingers as Midas Tap will only trigger on one. You can use a finger on one hand to “hold” the midas tap and two/three fingers on the other hand to “drum” the top left corner to make it go a bit faster
  • Narwhal
    • Ruby Cabbage Coral (?)
    • Tap the top left corner of the screen 5,000 times
      • It doesn’t have to be consecutive, but you can do it all in one session without much trouble. It takes a while but not hours.
  • Cross Damsel
    • Take 3 pictures of a Damsel
    • Chromis count as Damsels
  • French Angel
    • Save picture of Angelfish 3 times
    • That’s save to your device, not just take it or share it
  • Springer Dottyback
    • Share picture 3 times
    • You can press the share button, delete the draft and still get it credit for sharing as long as it switches apps
  • Panther Grouper
    • Share a picture of Parrotfish 10 times
      • Mahi Mahi counts as a Parrotfish
  • Moorish Idol
    • Take picture of Mystery Chest 5 times (wait for it to spawn first obviously)
      • Tap the chest to make sure you’re focused on it, it needs to be the focus not just in frame
      • Some people report only getting it after sharing not just taking the pictures, so if you’re having trouble try that instead
    • Technically an Angelfish
  • Scribbled Angelfish:
    • Push See More button in Photo Award 10 times
      • This actually almost always takes many more than 10 times
    • This is in the Photo icon in the top right next to trophies, not when you take a picture yourself
  • Peppermint Angel
    • Own 30 Angelfish
      • Moorish Idol counts as an Angelfish
      • Fusion Angelfish still count towards the total, and making Fusion Angels will speed up this otherwise arduous process due to the vitality boost while not “losing” any Angels, so it’s highly recommended!
        • Note Masked Angel currently does not count because of a bug!
    • Like the Naso Tang, save this for one of your final challenges in AbyssRium. It’s not as bad as it might sound, but it’s a long grind even after reaching Z vitality
  • Queen Angel
    • Fragile Staghorn Coral level 3000
  • Juvenile Pinnate Spadefish
    • Own 3 Gold Fish
      • These are the “set completion” rewards for the Hiding Fish game, see Hiding Fish for more info.
  • Pajama Cardinal
    • Open app 20 times in one day (you don’t have to close the app, just home screen-> back into app)
  • Mahi Mahi
    • Play at 0:00 AM (midnight) 10 times
    • A way that’s worked for at least some people is to cheat your phone’s clock to 11:59, let the clock move to 12 AM “naturally”, then open the app, leave to the home screen and re-open Abyssrium 10 times
      • If you don’t want to ‘cheat’, you could change your time zone so that ‘midnight occurs’ while you’re playing…though it’s really the same thing
    • This one seems a bit inconsistent and may be bugged
      • Some people say the game seems to give it them after Abyssrium runs in the background overnight, then they got the unlock much later the following day
      • I got it randomly at 7 PM after trying the time cheat, it’s possible it does unlock, but is delayed or something, or it’s since been fixed
  • Prized Walking Fish
    • Play AbyssRium for two days on the Attendance Calendar
      • All “play game for X days” achievements must be earned online
      • A big calendar will pop up and show you your daily rewards with a new fish every 7th day
      • These days do not have to be consecutive
    • This is called an Axolotl, popularized in part by the pokemon Wooper & Mudkip
    • Counts as an “event fish” with no vitality multiplier, and you only get one
    • If you somehow didn’t get one, you’ll need to send a bug report and they can send you one I believe
  • Sea Slug
    • Play game for 7 days
  • Giant Isopod
    • Play game for 14 days
  • Oarfish
    • Play game for 21 days
  • Coelacanth
    • Play game for 28 days
  • Giant Squid
    • Play game for 35 days
  • Camel Cowfish
    • Share picture of Blowfish 3 times
    • Boxfish, Puffers, Cowfish, Triggers, the Lionfish, and even the Sea Slug all count as Blowfish for this task
  • Spotted Mandarin Dragonet
    • Start AbyssRium upon notification
    • This has nothing to do with the “vitality full” notification, it’s a special notification that specifically says “it is time to get the hidden fish”. See the above link for much more info
  • Juvenile Spotted Boxfish
  • Whale Shark
    • Start AbyssRium upon notification
      • Requires Star Horn Coral
        • Note people report having significantly more trouble getting the Whale Shark than any of the other similar fish
        • If you’re having trouble with it and have Star Horn coral, I would strongly recommend just using the manual method to force the unlock
  • Potbelly Seahorse
    • Share picture of Seahorse 3 times
    • Amusingly, the Giant Isopod appears to count as a “seahorse” for this
  • Pygmy Seahorse
    • Play at 4 AM 5 times
    • You can change your phone’s time to cheat this because, I mean, screw that
    • You can just leave the Abyssrium app to the home page then reopen it 5 times
    • This one worked perfectly fine with time cheating for me, but some people report similar issues to the Mahi Mahi, so read the info there.
  • Nautilus
    • Use Delicious Food skill 50 times
  • Red Lobsters (Hidden, Fusion)
    • Sea Urchin Farm required
    • Use the Delicious Food skill 100 times
      • Did you know most lobsters only turn red during cooking?
        • RIP
    • This is a Fusion Fish and is created in the Fusion tab
  • Striped Marlin
    • Appears to require Star Horn Coral
    • Take a photo of Striped Marlin.
      • I made a dedicated Striped Marlin Guide since this fish is so hard to get with extra details.
      • They may start appearing the first 30 minutes after Star Horn Coral is purchased, but they aren’t guaranteed.
      • They have what is said to be a”10% chance” of showing up every half hour of ingame time (not real time, the app has to be open).
      • Time is not consecutive. You do not have to reset the app after 30 minutes if you don’t see them, that will never help. Playing the game will not prevent them from appearing
      • I really can’t stress enough that there is no magic trick to this. Asking me won’t get you them faster, and whatever you think is preventing them is almost certainly not. They are just extremely rare. Remember that with a 10% chance it is not out of the ordinary to need to try 15 or even 20+ times.
      • Here’s a photo of them so you know what you’re looking for
      • If you don’t mind eating some electricity, you can farm it a bit better by setting your device to keep it’s screen on (instructions for iOS and Android) and keep an eye on your device while it’s going. Be sure to turn these features off once you’re done.
    • It will be a swarm of them moving rapidly all around the map, it’s fairly easy to notice them.
    • Take a picture of it when it appears to unlock it. Make sure to “lock on” to it like any other fish, it can take a couple tries because they move fast.
      • Take a picture immediately when you first see one, then you can pan and zoom the freeze-frame while the app asks if you want to save/share. Find the marlin and tap it to change focus, then take another picture and boom, you’ve got it!
      • They’ll make many loops around the screen so don’t panic, but you do want to be fairly quick.
      • If you miss them, they will come back.
  • Bonito (Hidden, Fusion)
    • Unlock: Take a picture of Bonito. Yes, like the Marlin…
    • This is a Fusion Fish, found in the Fusion tab, not with the other fish
  • Mauve Stinger Jellyfish
    • Take a picture of a Moon Jellyfish 10 times
      • Some people don’t seem to get this until they share the image. If it doesn’t seem to work and you’ve counted 10 shots try that
  • Leatherback Turtle
    • Open the Mystery Chest 50 times
      • This is the last time you’d never need to watch an ad to unlock a fish, so I’d strongly suggest never watching an ad again after unlocking it
  • Commerson Dolphin
    • Save a picture of a dolphin 3 times
      • The Narwhal counts as a dolphin for this task, and is available sooner
        • The listed requirement of “save picture of the Coralite 3 times” is completely wrong and has been present for almost a full year
      • Seasonal event dolphins do not count
  • Manta Ray
    • Share a photo of “Stingray” 3 times
      • There is no stingray, it means the Spotted Eagle Ray or any ray
      • It says “to twitter” but it’s a lie, any sharing service works
    • The Oarfish counts as a Stingray for this
  • Hammerhead Shark
    • Save picture of shark 3 times
      • Goblin Shark does not count
  • Dugong
    • Own 78 types of Normal fish
    • What a beautiful Dugong! (chew)
  • Octopus
    • Requires Blue Table Coral
      • Costs 3.265 AC to unlock.
  • Cuttlefish
    • Requires Blue Table Coral
    • Acquire 3 Octopi
    • Only the actual “Octopus” fish will count for this
  • Vampire Squid
    • Requires Blue Table Coral
    • Tap upper right corner 1000 times
      • For any following fish that requires coral in addition to a condition, you can complete the condition first and the fish will unlock immediately upon getting the Coral
    • Did you know the Vampire Squid is not quite a squid nor an Octopus? It has it’s own Order, Vampyromorphida
  • Piglet Squid
    • Requires Blue Table Coral
    • Share a photo of Vampire Squid 5 times
  • Colossal Squid
    • Requires Blue Table Coral
    • Collect all Mollusca  (Misleading)
      • Acquire Octopus, Cuttlefish, Vampire Squid, and Piglet Squid
      • That’s all the other Blue Table Coral fish
      • (Trivia) It’s description should really read “Cephalopods,” a more narrow classification, but even then its written description is misleading
  • Leafy Seadragon
    • Requires White Swing Anemone
      • Costs 191.223 AV Vitality
      • Coralite level 2500
  • Ribbon Seadragon
    • Requires White Swing Anemone
  • Weedy Seadragon
    • Requires White Swing Anemone
    • Take a picture while using Delicious Food
  • Red Weedy Seadragon
    • Requires White Swing Anemone
    • Start Application Upon Notification
      • Will not come without Whale Shark, so if you still don’t have Whale Shark when you have White Swing, it’s time to force the unlock with the method in the above link.
  • Giant Seadragon
    • Requires White Swing Anemone
    • Acquire all 4 other Sea Dragons
  • Sawfish
    • Requires Orange Blade Coral
      • Costs 11.196 BP Vitality
      • Coralite level 3500
  • Shovelnose Guitarfish
    • Requires Orange Blade Coral
  • Torpedo Ray
    • Requires Orange Blade Coral
    • Own 75 types of normal fish
  • Bowmouth Guitarfish
    • Requires Orange Blade Coral
    • Upgrade Volcanic Eruption, Delicious Food, and Song of the Moon to Level 11
      • Skills can go above this level as of the Expand update, but level 11 is still enough to unlock this
      • The nautilus, Magic Conch and Mysterious Shell don’t count for this
      • You won’t get quite enough gems to get this just from Achievements/attendance, so it’s recommended to spend all your gems to get these to level 11 as soon as possible
  • Giant Guitarfish
    • Requires Orange Blade Coral
    • Own 200 total fish
  • Sea Pig
    • Requires Pink Tree Coral
      • Costs 158.645 CS vitality
      • Coralite Level 5000
  • Hatchet Fish
    • Requires Pink Tree Coral
  • Blob Fish
    • Requires Pink Tree Coral
    • Share picture of a Sea Pig 5 times
  • Megamouth Shark
    • Requires Pink Tree Coral
    • Acquire 15 Great White Sharks
  • Gulper Eel
    • Requires Pink Tree Coral
    • Own 250 fish
  • Basking Shark
    • Requires Giant Green Kelp
      • Cost:92.893 DL Vitality.
  • Beluga Whale
    • Requires Giant Green Kelp
    • Acquire 10 Irrawaddy Dolphins
  • Dwarf Whale
    • Requires Giant Green Kelp
    • Own 99 kinds of fish
  • Migaloo
    • Requires Giant Green Kelp
    • Share images of 100 different fish species.
      • Here’s a checklist you can use to help you keep track
        • Thanks Nina Hansen for compiling the Spreadsheet!
      • Shares before getting the Giant Green Kelp still count; if you already have 100 unique shares before getting Kelp you’ll unlock it the next time you “share” an image of a fish.
      • Easiest way to do this is to just make sure to “share” an image of each new fish as you unlock it. You’ll have over 100 fish by the time you unlock the Giant Green Kelp.
      • A more painful way to do this if you’ve already been playing for a while is to store all fish then take out a single fish of each species at once, sharing then storing them.
      • Remember to not actually share them. Click the share button, let it swap apps/bring up the Share menu, then back out. Don’t spam your friends with 100+ pictures.
      • Event Fish don’t count
  • 1000 Year Old Blue Whale
    • Acquire all normal fish (113 total)
      • This no longer includes the Juvenile Spadefish
      • Event fish & Fusion are excluded
      • Only one 1000 Year Old Blue Whale can be obtained, apparently due to performance reasons

AbyssRium Gameplay Walkthrough

Getting Z Vitality in a week

For a narrated video walkthrough of all the basic functionality, see Getting started in Abyssrium Video Guide.

Here’s a simple walkthrough for the broad strokes of what you’ll need to do to reach the ‘endgame’ (defined as Z vitality) in roughly a week. I took 5 days playing fairly intensely, but playing smart you should be able to ‘beat’ AbyssRium in a week, give or take a couple days, even without playing super fervently.

AbyssRium’s updated a lot since this was originally written, but it’ll still take you through early/mid game easy. They just added a lot of stuff so that Z is no longer the “end”, but the gameplay doesn’t really change beyond the ‘end’ anyway. Fusion Fish, Expand features, and Hiding Fish were all added since this walkthrough was written, but they don’t change it very much either.

Beating AbyssRium Without Ads

Just a quick note, it’s totally possible to beat AbyssRium without watching ads, though it will significantly slow your progress. It’s actually quite easy.

To hide the “new ad” notifications in the store/magic tabs, just open each once without watching the ad and you’ll never get a notification again. Pretend the treasure chest is a decoration and don’t press the Recharge Skill button and boom! You have successfully avoided all ads. None will show on start up/etc, ever, in this game it’s 100% your choice whether you want to watch ads.

If you strongly dislike ads, I suggest only using the “recharge skill” ad, as it’s by far the most useful and will still drastically reduce the amount of ads you view in game. It’s the only ad type where ignoring it will slow your progress, because you have to wait two hours to recharge all three skills instead of 15 minutes. If you plan to play super passively, this might not be an issue for you (but still, once all other skills are charged, the free recharge means two uses of all skills).

And also, you need to open the Treasure Chest 50 times to get one of the Hidden Fish if you care.

Note you can silence ads by muting “music” volume on your phone but leaving “notification” volume on.

Day 1 – Introduction to AbyssRium

Your  first day will be confusing, exciting, and overwhelming. Or maybe you’ll get bored and quit immediately.

AbyssRium is a “clicker” game, you see. You may love or hate that sort of game from the start, you may not have heard of it, or maybe AbyssRium will turn out to be the only one of the genre you enjoy.

As a clicker, AbyssRium starts off with you tapping your screen a lot to build “Vitality”. The ingame tutorial explains the basics well enough so just follow it. Basically you tap to get more Vitality, then spend your vitality on improving your aquarium which gets you more vitality to spend on…yeah, you get it. It’s important to realize right away that because Vitality earning rate is ever improving, any spending mistakes are extremely temporary and basically, don’t worry.

There’s a mix of somewhat equally important objectives in this game: upgrading your Coralite’s level, upgrading your Coral, buying new Fish, and getting the Achievements that multiply your Vitality production stats. You’ll be constantly bouncing between Coralite/Coral/Fish upgrades based on whichever is most cost effective. Always upgrade your Coralite and Coral 25 times per go, because you’re really after the multiplier every 25 levels, the individual levels don’t matter much. AbyssRium’s numbers increase exponentially, but the progression curve is secretly quite linear. Don’t worry too much about it, basically. You can’t really do anything to permanently mess up.

To upgrade the Coralite from level X to X+25, it usually takes right around 70 times level X’s vitality. So if level 1001 costs 1G vitality, save around 70G vitality and you should be able to upgrade straight to level 1025 for another 2x multiplier. If you’re bad at math, just add two zeros, close enough though obviously overshooting the value a bit. Note you shouldn’t use the +100/10 levels button with the Coralite; it actually costs more than way than buying levels one by one. Corals are the same, though eventually Corals are such a burden to keep up with it’s worth only buying them by the 100 levels.

I upgrade Coral whenever the upgrade cost for the next level cost about as much as I earn with one tap (with Song of the Moon active, if I have it), or basically whenever the Coral feels very cheap. Aside from some early-on points where Coral is disproportionately effective, letting your Coral fall behind a bit isn’t a big deal, and you can always upgrade in a big batch going 10 or even 100 levels at a time if your Coralite/Fish levels are way better.

I buy Fish whenever I can because they double all Vitality and more importantly they are very cute. You should buy new variety of Coral whenever you can as well, as they unlock more fish and serve as a sort of progression—by the time you have the last Coral variety, you’re more or less in the endgame. Don’t worry about buying the “wrong” fish, by the endgame you’ll be getting a new fish every time you open the app, so a few duplicate fish doesn’t hurt.

When fish have a heart over their head, they can be tapped for extra Vitality. Tapping Fishes’ vitality isn’t of much value frankly, but it can be fun for a bit while AbyssRium is new to you. More importantly, during seasonal events, fish will give you Candies instead which can be used to unlock special time-limited fish!

Stay aware of the “achievements” (click the trophy icon), the Coralite Level/Coral Level/Vitality Level acheievemnets have massive gains to Vitality.

If you get Gems (Abyssrium regularly gives you some for the tutorial and for completing achievements or watching ads), you mostly want to save them at this point in time. Buy one level of each of the Magic Items (Nautilus, Conch, Clam) and save the rest for Delicious Food, a skill you might not unlock quite yet.

Skills are the best way to earn, so play passively and wait for skill uses. Once you have the Delicious Food skill, you don’t have to tap much at all anymore, and you can focus on passively playing and only opening the app whenever Delicious Food is available. Each tap of the Delicious Food skill is worth 5000 manual taps, so don’t kill your finger, just be patient.

If your wrist hurts, stop playing. This is a silly fun game, and anything you need to tap will still be there tomorrow, or whenever your wrist feels better. There is no need to get RSI, this game can be played at a very chill place, and there’s really no benefit to rushing. This guide will get you there without much mad-tapping.

Speaking of, please do not shoot for the “Hard Worker” achievements. They are frankly offensively difficult to get, 255,000 taps in a short period would probably do some sort of lasting damage to your wrist even if you don’t have bad wrists. Save your wrists and toss $5 at the dev if you’re THAT desperate for gems.

Day 2-6 – Progress

Within a day or two you’ll probably unlock both Delicious Food and Song of the Moon, the two things you really need to make this game almost entirely passive but still progress quite rapidly.

With both skills in hand, just open Abyssrium once every 15-120 minutes, use all three skills, and upgrade smartly. Leave the game on for 5 minutes as the auto tap does it’s work, then you can put your phone back in your pocket for a while.

However, since there’s more to do, you’re going to want to learn a bit more about Abyssrium, search for hidden fish, and be aware of some pitfalls. The Hidden Fish list is up above.

The biggest pitfall is that this game has a very strange progression curve. There are a few points in Abyssrium, usually before a Coralite level/Coral level/Vitality Level achievement where progression is v e r y s l o w. It’s not you playing wrong, Abyssrium just slows down a few times, possibly to make the next bit of progress feel like joy.

Keep a close eye on Coralite level/Coral level goals. Generally I’ll only upgrade Coral once I can make more vitality per tap than the first level in a set of 25 will cost.  Note you can now upgrade in sets of 10 or 100 (for 100 it generally costs a whole order of magnitude more Vitality than the next level will cost)

Break this rule whenever your coral is woefully underleveled (eg Tap = 10x Coral) or whenever you’re reasonably close to the next Coral Level achievement, the 10x boost is vital.

Gems will come slower now as time goes on, with occasional big batches of 100/150 as achievements unlock. Spend these on new Magic Items or upgrading Delicious Food (first) and Song of the Moon (second).

You should have plenty of time to mop up the last of the Hidden Fish in these days, and make sure you keep unlocking Coral/new fish types and try to never get more than 1 of a fish unless you have too much vitality and nothing to spend it on. The toughest hidden fish to look for are the Striped Marlin (pure luck), the Check In reward fish (pure waiting), and the Legendary Sun Fish (annoying, but not THAT slow, and it’s an easy replacement for the Striped Marlin if you need one last fish variety to unlock the Dugong).

Over time you may find yourself getting tired of watching ads for gems/vitality, doing quests, and opening the chests. This is fine, the utility of these gains begins to drop once we hit the “endgame”, if you’re tired of taking pictures or watching ads you’ll be perfectly fine as long as you just use your skills regularly.

The Wall (O Vitality)

Right around O Vitality seems to be a point where almost everyone has trouble progressing. If you hit this wall, don’t worry too much. Make the best of your skills, keep upgrading the Coralite and getting Fish when you can, and upgrade your Coral if you think you can make your way to a vitality multiplier.

Right after O vitality you’ll be hitting Coralite level 1500, P Vitality, and 10,000 Coral of Life levels. Which of those comes first depends a bit on how you play, but once one comes, the others will follow fast, and you’ll be getting a fish every couple casts of all skills after all three for a while.

This is probably the worst hump in AbyssRium but once you’re past it there’s really nothing else like it. There’s a few more slowdowns (they’re common in Clicker/Idle game design, especially F2P games), but nothing really compares to this.

Proper use of gems will reduce the burden here, remember to go for Song of the Moon and Delicious Food.

Day 7+ – Endgame

If you’ve been keeping up with Abyssrium decently well, around day 7 you’ll finally reach X Vitality, unlocking the final 10x vitality bonus. With X vitality you should easily be able to upgrade the Coralite to level 1500 and obtain 1800 Coral levels very quickly if you haven’t already.

At this point, the game gets a lot simpler and smoother. There will no longer be strange gaps in gameplay where the next Coralite level bonus is strangely distant from reach, where the next fish is absurdly expensive or where you need another several thousand Coral levels to really get going again.

Note that Z Vitality is not the end; instead you will get “AA” vitality, then “AB” vitality…all the way to “ZZ” which is not practical to reach (and if AbyssRium is hacked with cheating tools, it stops progressing and glitches out before getting that far).

Your gameplay loop is basically wait for all skills to recharge, pop all three skills (starting with Song of the Moon!) and each time you cast Delicious Food you should be able to buy either a new fish or 25 Lonely Coralite levels, or both, easy. You can upgrade Coral at your leisure, personally I find it more effort than it’s worth and only do so every several Vitality “letters”. Your treasure chest, “magic” and photo quest rewards will drop sharply if you don’t maintain your coral, but at this point you probably don’t care much as a Delicious Food every 15 minutes (or 2 hours without ads) is plenty.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy. Abyssrium is now less of a Clicker Game and more of a chill, beautiful aquarium sim where you can get a new fish every 15-120 minutes. All you need to worry about is what fish you want to focus on (I like the moon jellyfish!) and finish any Hidden Fish if you need them. Also make sure to keep checking in at least once a day to get the last 2 weeks worth of “check in” reward fish. Even the slowest players will likely have one or two of these left to unlock by the time they reach the “end”.

AbyssRium Gameplay Info

Different styles for Coralite, Coral, and background can be purchased and equipped in the painter’s palette icon menu when the main menu is closed. It’s mostly a way for them to give you more reason to spend gems, but several items are unlockable without gems too. There’s also one item in each category for every Event AbyssRium has.

All theme options have previews so you can see what it looks like before buying.

The Store tab lets you buy Event customization items that you missed, all 3 items from one event for $1 each. Halloween is missing for some reason.

Paid for by Pearls earned only from the new Daily Mission, Luck Shell, or paying money, Expand lets you customize your tank.

It will take a very long time to make anything too fancy, so many sure you get the daily mission rewards as often as you can. Paying real world money gives a rather unimpressive amount of pearls (and no bulk discount) so I don’t recommend it.

Note that only Sand Castles and Craters affect vitality (or any element of gameplay at all). For the best long term benefit I would suggest spending at least your first week or two’s worth of pearls on Craters after buying your Seaweed farm.

Floating Island Trick

There’s a trick to get floating islands for your Expand items. It’s easier to show than tell, so here’s a video showing how.

Decorative only, most Terrain objects can have other objects placed on them or they can be used as decorations. You can even stack pillars to have extra tall ones. This is also where you buy new hex tiles to place more objects on.

  • Purchase new Terrain (50 Pearls)
    • Unlocks a new hexagon tile adjacent to an existing tile, you’re given one free.
    • Note you can pan the camera while in the buying menu, so you can move to the other side of the Coralite to buy a tile over there as well.
  • Wide Rock(20 Pearls)
  • Small Rock (15 Pearls)
  • Pebble (10 Pearls)
  • Arch Rock (20 Pearls)
  • Small Pillar (15 Pearls
  • Big Pillar (20 Pearls)
  • Pebble Ornament (10 Pearls)
  • Starfish Ornament (10 Pearls)
  • Large Gazebo Rock (80 Seaweed)
  • Small Gazebo Rock (40 Seaweed)
  • Large Ladder Rock (80 Seaweed)
  • Samll (sic) Ladder Rock (40 Seaweed)
  • Shell Decoration (30 Clams)
  • Sea Urchin Decoration (30 Sea Urchins)
  • Moss Rock (100 Seaweed)
  • Fence Rock (60 Clams)
  • Flexual Arch Rock (40 Sea Urchins)
Decorative Coral

Coral can’t be stacked on, but you can stack any Coral on top of any sufficiently sized Terrain item in the above list.

  • Seaweed (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Pearls)
  • Vortex Coral (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Pearls)
  • Onion Coral (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Pearls)
  • Feather Coral (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Pearls)
  • Pipe Coral (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Pearls)
  • Jar Anemone (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Pearls)
  • Elkhorn Coral (S/M/L) (25/50/75 Clams)
  • Sun Coral (S/M/L) (20/35/50 Crabs)
  • NewYear LionDog Statue (New Year’s Event)
  • Maneki Dumbo Coral (New Year’s Event)

Holy crap they figured out how percentages work. This is the only menu in AbyssRium where percentages are listed accurately! Note these work differently and you can only buy one of each structure; you buy upgrades instead of extras, which increase the vitality multiplier but do not result in any visual changes.

Structures appear to have a maximum level of 20. Note Structures don’t have to be placed on the map to work; stored Craters and Sand Castles work just as well.

Sand Castles

I’m not sure sand castles work underwater. But these boost your Coral vitality. I’d recommend getting and upgrading the Craters first, but if you want to buy one for visual variety 30 pearls isn’t a huge loss.

  • Sand Castle (S)
    • Buff: +10% Coral Vitality per level
    • Cost: 30 Pearls + 3 per level
    • Max: level 20, +200% Coral Vitality
  • Sand Castle (M)
    • Requires: Level 10 Sand Castle (S) (435 Pearls)
    • Buff: +20% Coral Vitality per level
    • Cost: 60 Pearls + 6 per level
    • Max: level 20, +400% Coral Vitality, 2340 Pearls
  • Sand Castle (L)
    • Requires: Level 20 Sand Castle (M) (2340 Pearls!!)
    • Buff: +50% Coral Vitality per level
    • Cost: 150 Pearls, +15 per level
    • Max: level 20, +1,000% Coral Vitality

Like baby Coralites or tiny hydrothermal vents, these come with a permanent Coralite vitality production bonus making them very valuable as later on your Vitality production is almost completely dependant on Delicious Food and thus tap vitality.

  • Crater (S)
    • Buff: +10% Tap Vitality per level
    • Cost: 30 Pearls + 3 per level
    • Max: level 20, +200 Coral Vitality
  • Crater (M)
    • Requires: Level 10 Crater (S) (435 Pearls)
    • Buff: +20% Tap Vitality per level
    • Cost: 60 Pearls + 6 per level
    • Max: Level 20, +400% Tap Vitality, 2340 Pearls
  • Crater (L)
    • Requires: Level 20 Crater (M) (2340 Pearls!)
    • Buff: +50% Tap Vitality per level
    • Cost: 150 Pearls, +15 per level
    • Max: level 20, +1,000% Tap Vitality

The math is pretty simple, an (M) sized structure will always be worth buying before an (S) unless it is twice as expensive. An L sized structure will always be worth buying over the (S) until it is five times as expensive, or two and a half times as expensive as the (M). Though you may want to only upgrade the (M) until unlocking the (L) for completeness’ sake.

Vitality Sources

Simple enough, this is the vitality you get per-tap. Vitality earned by skills is directly proportional to Tap vitality and includes no other factors. Tap vitality is generally your most important source due to skills.

Tap vitality is increased by Coralite level and doubles every 25 levels. There is effectively no maximum level of Coralite or Coral, so don’t look to “complete” them, Abyssrium is effectively an endless game.

3D Touch (iOS Only)

On iOS devices only, you can do a 3D touch (press a bit harder) to produce a shrimp, which will give 10x vitality once eaten by a fish. Before skills and the like are unlocked, this might be a bit faster way to gain vitality early on.

There’s a trick that some people can trigger where they hold with one finger and tap rapidly with another and many shrimp will appear at once. If you can get this to work it makes 3D touch much better than normal taps.

You earn your Coral vitality bonus each second, and you can only store up to 2 hours worth of per-second Vitality while the app is closed. Coral vitality also acts as a multiplier for the Quest/Magic vitality amounts.

Buying a new Coral species also boosts your maximum fish count by 5 fish per coral, and is the only free way to do so (you can also pay an absurd $100 for a paltry 10 more fish’s worth of space in the Store but, yeah).

Coral follow a complex curve where generally speaking, the newest coral available will provide the most cost effective boost in vitality after an initial “too expensive” period. This trend is broken for the new coral starting with Blue Table Coral which are much more expensive and much less effective, making the Star Horn Coral and the few coral above it the most effective to upgrade.

If you play Abyssrium very passively Coral might seem attractive, but Skills are still the preferable method once they’re obtained. Coral will only be significant fairly early on in your first few days of play Once Song of the Moon is obtained, your 2 hours worth of stored vitality is very little compared to what you can earn actively, with Delicious Food & Song of the Moon often instantly earning more than your two hours’ worth many times over. Coral are mostly important for reaching the next Coral of Life milestone which boosts all vitality production.

Trey Felton in the comments made this Coral Cost Calculator if you want to see what a specific upgrade will cost.

Interestingly/annoyingly, Coral cost more if you use the buy in bulk option, by about a 7% “convenience” tax. If you’re upgrading coral by the hundreds it’s not really worth going one by one, but it’s interesting to be aware of. Thanks to mickss on Reddit for working out the numbers.

Fish don’t directly add to vitality, instead passively doubling all Coral and Tap vitality permanently for each fish you buy with Vitality (event fish, luck shell fish, and the first free fish you get with a Premium Package do not add vitality multipliers).

Fish get about 3.5 times as expensive each fish you buy. This means you’ll often want to rotate between upgrading the Coralite and buying a Fish, whichever is cheaper. All else being equal, a Fish is always preferable.

Magic/Spending Gems

You can buy Vitality with gems. Don’t. At no point in AbyssRium are these bonuses worth it relative to their real world cost: gems should always first be used to upgrade your permanent skills.

By paying you can jump forward in vitality in an instant, but a few minutes of active play or hours of passive play will usually overtake the vitality you could spend $5 worth of gems on. It’s a bad deal. It looks particularly good early on (when progress is fast) but it will very quickly be clearly worthless once Song of the Moon is unlocked. You’ll often find 800 gems worth of Vitality is less than a single Coralite upgrade level!

Fish’s Vitality

Tapping Fish’s hearts simply gives you (Tap + Coral Per Second) vitality per-tap. It’s not that great except very, very early on, however tapping fish vitality is required for some achievements. Fish vitality is replaced with seasonal Candies for all events, which makes them much more worth tapping.

Photo Quest

Photo Quests give 200 times your current Coral vitality per second. (Thanks, Patrick in the comments!) If you let your Coral level flounder, these rewards may not even be worth the button presses. Generally these boosts are not worth worrying about unless you’re very early in the game.

Taking a “bad” shot gives you only 50% of the vitality. The sensing for this is very wonky, but generally a shot from the rear or an obscured fish gets the penalty. Sometimes an awful shot gives 100% and sometimes a fine shot is oddly penalized.

Note you can double your reward by “sharing” the image. As always, you can cancel before you actually post, and get the reward for free. The second reward is not affected by whether or not you screw up the photo.

Chest/Magic Vitality

This seems to be mostly governed by your Coral vitality level. The chest rewards are absolutely never worth watching an ad for.

Skills & Magic Items

/u/idlestate has a great chart on which skills are most efficient to spend gems on.

However due to the Bowmouth Guitarfish, I would recommend that you spend all gems upgrading Song of the Moon, Delicious Food and Volcanic Eruption to level 11 ASAP. After that you can spend them more freely. Here’s a chart on free gems vs the Bowmouth unlock.

Also note that maxing all skills is not a practical goal: Even spending several hundred dollars on In App Purchases isn’t enough! Your skills will never be maxed, and that’s just how it is. Don’t worry about it, the game is designed to be bad.

Skills (Active Items)

For the first 10 levels, skill upgrades cost the same amount of gems. Starting with level 11 (10 for Artifacts), upgrading skills/artifacts costs 100 gems more per level, so if level 10 was 200 gems, level 11 is 300 gems and level 14 is 600 gems etc. This means it’ll be a lot more cost effective to buy cheaper upgrades for lower level skills and giving an exact recommendation at any given point is more complicated.

Volcanic Eruption
  • Effect: Auto tap 10 times per second for 5 minutes
  • Max: Level 21, 20 taps per second for 15 minutes
  • Cost: 200 gems per level until level 12, then increasing 100 gems per level
  • Unlocked: Coralite level 100

Your most basic clicker game power up, it’s really not significant in the grand scheme of things until you get Song of the Moon, but it’ll feel impressive at the start.

The first ten levels act differently from the last 10, first a minute is added each level, then after level 11 it adds one tap per second. The first 10 levels are of extremely low value beyond unlocking a hidden fish.

Aaron Ford in the comments worked out that Eruption is generally worth more vitality though it doesn’t take into account Song of the Moon:

“Pretend you have A vitality.

Max Volcanic E = 10 tps (taps per second) for 15 mins. 10tps × 60s (1minute) = 600tpm (taps per minute). 600 tpm x 15m = 9.0A per 15 minute period.

Max Nautilius = 120tpm. 120 tpm × 15m = 1.8A per 15 minute period.”

Delicious Food
  • Effect: Produces 5,000 times vitality production per tap immediately
  • Max: Level 21, produces 25,000 times vitality per tap immediately
  • Cost: 300 gems per level until level 12, then increasing 100 gems per level
  • Unlocked: Coralite level 300

Once getting one of each of the magic items below for fun, this is a solid contender for your top priority. It’s usually the most vitality-per-gem, trading places occasionally with Song of the Moon.

Song of the Moon
  • Effect: Increases vitality production by 500% for 5 minutes
  • Max: Level 21, 2,500% vitality production
  • Cost: 500 gems per level until level 12, then increasing 100 gems per level
  • Unlocked: Coralite level 500

The most important skill in AbyssRium, the other skills are barely even worth using without this effect. With this, a couple casts of Delicious Food will almost always give you so many rewards you can instantly level your Coralite or buy a new fish or so on. At least until level BA and beyond where it feels like the devs forgot to actually design the game.

Song of the Moon also benefits the Candy production of seasonal events like Halloween and Christmas, so I recommend simply putting all your gems toward Song of the Moon first. It just makes your life so much easier and stacks with almost everything.

Once Song of the Moon is sufficiently upgraded, you’ll start to notice how piddly many of the non-skill Vitality bonuses really are too. The Treasure Chest (vitality bonus) and Get Free Vitality (magic tab) will feel pretty pointless as Song of the Moon doesn’t improve them. Photo Quest is buffed (for all it’s worth) but only if the quest pops up while SotM is active.

Midas Tap

Don’t buy this.

Magic Items (Passive Items)

These are your passive skills, mostly not as good as the active ones. But buy at least one level of each for looks then come back and upgrade them later on as your skills start to get expensive.

Remains of a Nautilus
  • Effect: Auto-tap 30 times per minute
  • Max: Level 20, auto tap 220 times per minute
  • Cost: 300 gems per level until level 11, then increasing 100 gems per level

Some people confuse this for being the same as Volcanic Eruption, but note it’s per minute, far slower. It’s an okay passive gain since it saves you from tapping, but it’s only really worth one level. Like all auto taps, these only register if the app is open, greatly limiting its effect.

Since the taps still occur under Song of the Moon, upgrading this might actually be better than upgrading Volcanic Eruption assuming Song of the Moon is maxed. I haven’t run the numbers myself.

Mystic Shell
  • Effect: 1.1x increase of vitality production per tap
  • Max: level 20, 3x increase of vitality per tap
  • Cost: 300 Gems per level until level 11, then increasing 100 gems per level

This is actually a 10% increase in vitality, not a 110% increase as the ingame description says. Subtract 100 from most ingame percents to get what they actually mean; they’re multipliers not increases.

Buy one level because it’s pretty, then ignore it until you have some gems to burn. It’s not strictly bad as it buffs Delicious Food, but it’s less important than Song of the Moon, Delicious Food and even Glowing Conch. I’d rate it as the fourth best skill.

Glowing Conch
  • Effect: Shortens skill cooldown by 5% per level.
  • Max: level 10, 50% skill cooldown reduction
  • Cost: 500 gems per level

The reduction in time is very significant on Song of the Moon, the best skill. Buy one level because it looks nice and move on to the skills first, then come back once skills start getting expensive past level 11.

If you have enough gems to max Delicious Food and Song of the Moon, this is probably the third best option. At max level of the Conch skills will come twice as fast and you can reuse the “recharge” option only two and a half minutes after Song of the Moon runs out. However, you really do need to max it out to feel the most of the effect and that’s 5,000 gems total.

Gem Sources

Daily Attendance System

With the attendance system, you’ll get 20 gems the first 6 days, then a new fish, then 30 gems the next week, then 50 gems a day. Every 7th day you’ll unlock a new fish until there are no new fish, then the rewards stop entirely. This is a great early injection of gems, but don’t spend them foolishly; focus on skills, mostly Song of the Moon.

The Attendance System is online-only and cannot be cheated by messing with the clock/airplane mode.

Note that if a new tier of rewards is added you’ll just start on the first day of the new reward tier regardless of how many days have past since you actually started AbyssRium, rather than getting all those rewards at once.

Your best, ad-free source of gems, these will be given like candy at first, and later levels give some very significant gem rewards. See the Achievements Section for the exact details and rewards.

Unfortunately, several achievements are far beyond sane, such as tapping the screen manually 2,000,000 times. After about a week or so of intense play and once you’ve hit Z vitality, the achievement gems have probably dried up, but you’ll get just enough to buy one of each Magic Item and level a few skills, which is really all you “need”.

Don’t bother with the chest, you basically watch ads to get absolute garbage at random.

AbyssRium Achievements & Rewards

Achievements are a very important part of AbyssRium and you should check the Trophy menu any time you see a red (!) badge on it, as they’ll earn you large amounts of gems or a vitality multiplier that’s critical to proceeding quickly.

Vitality Achievements

These achievements are critical for reaching the “endgame” of AbyssRium, and if the game feels like it’s slowing down, it’s probably because one of these hasn’t been met yet. There’s only so much you can do to earn these intentionally, but keep an eye on them.

Vitality Achievements have 4 “tiers” of achievements instead of 4, and are more like boosts to keep you going (as Vitality production slowly reduces in speed relative to Coralite/Fish cost without them) more so than a specific goal to target.

Mysterious Stone

Reach a certain level for the Lonely Coralite.

Increases per-tap vitality by ten times per level for the first 5 star levels, then all vitality production by two times for Crown levels, except the last Crown level in a set of 5, which is 500%.

Star Levels: 200, 350, 500, 1000, 1500

Crown Levels: 2500, 4000, 6000, 8,000, 10,000

Tier 3 Levels: 12,000,  14,000, 16,000, 18,000, 20,000

Tier 4 Levels: 22,000, 24,000 ,26,000, 28,000, 30,000

Surging Vitality

Reach a certain vitality “letter”.

Increases all vitality production by 10 times per level for each Star level and 200% for each Crown level except the 5th crown level, which is 500%. Extremely vital, but unless you’re on the vitality level just below it, you can’t deliberately earn this. Just keep an eye out.

Star Levels: G, L, P, S, W

Crown Levels:  Z, AE, AJ, AP, AX

Tier 3 Levels: CD, CZ, DO, ED, ES

Tier 4 levels: FH, FW, GL, HD, HP

Coral of Life

Reach a total coral level equal to this number.

Increases all vitality production by ten times per Star level, two times per Crown level, or 5 times for the last Crown level in a set of 5. If you’re only a few hundred away from a level, see if you can reach it.

Star Levels: 3000, 7000, 10,000, 15,000, 18,000

Crown Levels: 30,000, 50,000, 80,000, 100,000, 150,000

Tier 3 levels: 180,000, 210,000, 240,000, 270,000, 300,000

Tier 4 levels: 330,000, 360,000, 390,000, 420,000, 450,000

Gem Achievements

These give gems, which are nice, but not required. Not all of these are worth obtaining based on their rewards alone.

Gems are given in order of 30/50/70/100/150 for the first 5 levels (stars), then 50/50/70/100/150 for level 6-10 (crowns).

Collect X unique types of fish, counts only Normal Fish and Fusion Fish.

Star Levels: 3, 10, 20, 40, 70

Crown Levels: 80, 100, 110, 130, 150

Play with fish

Tap the heart (vitality) over a fish X times.

The later levels of this one are pretty unreasonable. I don’t recommend going for it deliberately. Thanks to GK Ghima in the comments for some of these.

Star Levels: 100, 500, 1,000, 3,000, 10,000

Crown Levels: 15,000, 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000

Hard Worker!

Tap the screen X times. Does not count auto taps from skills or “Magic Items”, only physical taps.

This achievement rapidly becomes unobtainable so don’t worry about it. It’s the best reason to not care about 100% in this game.

Note the Google Play version of Hard Worker is bugged, and the 500k achievement will only unlock after the 1 million taps one.

Star Levels: 5,000, 50,000, 200,000, 500,000 , 1,000,000

Crown Levels: 2,000,000, 3,000,000, 5,000,000, 7,000,000, 10,000,000

Ready! Action!

Use skills X times.

No real way to speed this up significantly.

Star Levels: 20, 100, 300, 500, 1000

Crown Levels: 3000, 5000, 7000, 10,000, 20,000

Commercial Break!

Watch video ads X times. Don’t do this.

Star Levels: 10, 30, 50, 100, 200

Crown Levels: 250, 300, 400, 500, 600

Check Attendance!

Play Abyssrium on X different days. Not directly related to the new attendance reward system, which goes by server time instead of phone time. This does not require consecutive logins!

Cheating the clock will glitch this out, it does count a new day if you advance your clock, but if you set your time to two months ahead, then back to normal time, it won’t start accounting for new days until either 2 months pass or you cheat forward two months and a day again (if you’re lucky, I had a heck of a time getting it to start counting again!).

Star Levels: 3, 10, 20, 25, 50

Crown Levels: 75, 100, 150, 200

Say Cheese!

Take a picture X times. You don’t have to save or share the image.

The easiest achievement to farm for early gems. Just take pictures and discard them and immediately retake. Position your fingers right and you can spam this action quickly. Otherwise you’ll slowly earn it anyway if you do photo quests or just like taking pictures.

Star Levels: 10, 30, 50, 100, 200

Crown Levels: 300, 400, 500, 750, 1,000

A special moment!

Share a picture X times.

You can press the share button, cancel the draft and still get this. Almost as easily farmed as Say Cheese for this reason.

Star Levels: 3, 10, 20, 50, 100

Crown Levels: 150, 200, 300, 400, 500

With Friends!

Have X Facebook friends that play Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium. Facebook has been removed f

Both you and your friends must be connected to Facebook in Abyssrium in order to count for this.

Star Levels: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25

Crown Levels:  30, 35, 40, 45, 50

External Achievements

These achievements show in Google Play (and I assume Game Center achievements are the same) but do not show up in the ingame menu and thus have no gem/vitality rewards; they’re just for fun. These do not have “levels” like the ingame achievements. Note getting all of Abyssrium’s achievements will take many weeks.

These generally won’t trigger until you open the ingame Achievements menu (the trophy icon). Note that in-game achievements and Google Play achievements have slightly different requirements likely due to oversight.

  • I am not alone
    • Create first fish.
  •  Ruler of the alley
    • Create ten fish. Unlike the Collector achievements, these do not have to be unique fish.
  • Popular in Town
    • Collect 30 kinds of fish.
  • Celebrity
    • Create 60 Fish.
  • Fish Vending Machine
    • Own 100 Fish.
  • Make stone up
    • Unlock 7 corals.
  • Fashionista
    • Collect all Corals. Will come naturally through play.
  • I got angry
    • Unlock the Volcanic Eruption skill.
  • Have a lot
    • Unlock Delicious Food skill.
  • Rendezvous with the moon
    • Unlock Song of the Moon skill.
  • Eruption of lives
    • Volcano skill level 11. (2,000 gems total)
    • These skills all require a lot of gems, you’re unlikely to earn more than one (or zero) through a “normal” amount of play (a couple of weeks of fairly intensive play). Even the paid “beginner package” doesn’t have enough gems to max out most skills!
  • Nutritious Food
    • Delicious Food level 11. (3,000 gems)
  • Dance with the moon
    • Song of the Moon level 11. (5,000 gems)

There’s also repeats of many of the Vitality/Gem achievements which are omitted here due to being duplicates.

Note that it is impossible to complete the collection unless you have the Juvenile Pinnate Spadefish already, and has been for a full year. It will likely never be fixed.

Collection is a new series of long-term Achievements that reward you with pearls for completing lists of fish. As a long-term goal, Collection should largely be ignored until you’re finished progressing through the Normal Fish list (and unlocking your Blue Whale), though a few lists will be completed through normal play, so claim your pearls!

When a Collection is complete a red (!) will appear over the Trophy icon just like when a new Achievement or Daily Mission task is complete. You can check the list at any time from the Trophy menu (it’s rather unlikely to complete many of the later lists without deliberately following the lists).

Collection has a two-tiered setup, where within each Collection Level there are five Oceans. For completing an Ocean you get pearls, and for completing all five Oceans on a Level you get an even larger set of pearls. Each Collection Level gets significantly more difficult, so higher Levels should be ignored until earlier ones are finished. In addition, Oceans tend to require new fish in an additive manner, so Ocean 1 requires 3 fish, Ocean 2 requires all fish from Ocean 1 plus 2 fish, and so on.

A full list of Collection requirements/rewards can be found here.

Note that every level of Collection will report “Bronze collection complete!”, even level 4. There is no second set of Collections after finishing level 4, or any special bonus of any kind other than the pearls.

Collection Level 1

Level 1 is extremely easy, requiring only one of each fish and almost no hidden fish. You’ll unlock these simply by playing AbyssRium normally and acquiring one of each fish as you should.

Collection Level 2

Collection Level 2 is much harder than it appears as it requires 6 of the Peppermint Angel, which in turn requires 30 Angelfish, a vastly steeper requirement than anything else in this tier. It also requires the Coelacanth, thus 28 days of playing. Don’t worry about this tier much until you’ve gotten your Blue Whale, or you’ll be sick of Angelfish forever. The stretch after Z vitality is a decent time to spawn tons of Angelfish for this requirement.

Collection Level 3

Collection Level 3 is where things get serious, requiring five of each fish in each list and requiring the Striped Marlin to clear even one ocean. Did anyone else just hear a loud scream? Hm.

Collection Level 4

Level 4 is neigh-unreachable for all but the most seasoned veterans, requiring the Dwarf Whale (and thus, DL vitality and the Giant Green Kelp) before you can even unlock any oceans. However, there are quite a few requirements you can mop up long before then, so it can pay to keep ahead of things.

Luck Shell

Luck Shell is Gachapon, a digital slot game so insidious Japan has tried to ban it multiple times but current versions sit just far enough outside of the legal definition of ‘gambling’ to get a pass from the authorities. As a result, it’s one of the most poisonous and money-grubbing aspects of many mobile games today.

Gachapon is so problematic that China of all countries passed a law requiring companies to officially state the probability of boxes after players were found spending thousands of dollars trying to unlock single, extremely rare, items.

Luck Shell’s exact(ish) payout odds can be found ingame in version 1.4.6, or in this imgur album if you don’t have it yet.

My disgust for the practice aside, Luck Shell is AbyssRium’s flavor of the practice, and it’s not quite the worst implementation I’ve seen.

Basically, you spin a slot machine by either watching an add or paying Pearls (the new SUPER premium currency, on top of the existing premium currency), and the machine can give you either Vitality, Gems, Pearls, or past Event Fish. Obviously, the main draw is the Event Fish.

A word of warning though, there’s no way to “work toward” specific fish or anything. You’ll get a completely random fish and there does not appear to be any attempt to bias the odds towards fish you don’t have (much less fish you want); it’s all dumb luck. If you really, really want a single item…you’re basically SOL unless the pure dumb luck coincides with what you want.

Basically, don’t waste too much time, effort, or most importantly money here. You can’t even meaningfully buy your way to victory, so just play the free once for the free junk, eh? Gacha is basically paying for the privilege of looking for the Striped Marlin, to put it in relevant perspective.

But hey, if you like throwing money around, I have a Patreon you could contribute to too, wink wink. /s

What Fish Can You Get?

Luck Shell’s main purpose is to give past event fish, so predictably, almost every single fish it’s been seen to give is an Event Fish. It does not appear to give Premium/Package event fish, like the Scuba Bunny. It’s been witnessed in one case to actually give the 10,000 Year Old Blue Whale, though no other hidden fish have been observed.

The icons of fish indicate rarity of fish, not species, so “whale” icon fish in the wheel are rare/expensive fish, if not necessarily an actual whale, while turtles are uncommon fish, and the fish icon is usually some of the cheapest event fish like Angelfish.

Like I said above, it doesn’t seem to be biased toward giving you fish you don’t have. It’s a monetization strategy for Cheetah Mobile, not a fix for all your ills.

Luck Shell also seems to have a bias towards the most recent event; for months it had a nearly 50% bias towards Spring Event fish. It’s current bias is unknown, but know that fish are not distributed evenly among events.

Getting a fish in Luck Shell does not entitle you to produce more of that fish (since their event is expired anyway). The only way to get a second would be to randomly win it from the luck shell again.

Note that you may have to go into the Manage menu (the button is on every main menu right next to fish count) to put your earned fish into the pond.

Excluded Fish

The following fish do NOT appear in the Luck Shell no matter how much you pay:

  • Premium Event Fish
    • Ghost Whale
    • Heart Sun Fish
    • Scuba Rabbit
    • Congratulating Corgi
    • etc.
    • You can get the Snowflake Whale because it was not a premium-exclusive fish
  • Prized Walking Fish
  • Legendary Sun Fish
  • Normal Fish
    • The 10,000 Year Old Blue Whale is the only “normal” fish that does appear on the list
Daily Mission

Daily Missions give 15 gems for each individual mission and 25 pearls (as of the Freshwater update) for completing all of them. Tap the trophy icon to see your progress on the missions, they’re all very simple.

  • Tap 2500 times
  • Upgrade coral 25 levels
    • Note Coral caps at 3000 in Freshwater, so don’t upgrade coral more than 25 levels a day after unlocking all Coral
  • Use skills 5 times
  • Tap 25 fish’s hearts/bubbles
  • Play for 20 minutes

Daily missions are always the same every day. I’d recommend always making sure to do them when you can as they’re necessary for Pearls which only accrue very slowly.

Note the rewards have to be manually claimed, including the pearl rewards. The Pearl reward button won’t work until the other rewards are claimed even if all five missions have been completed.

AbyssRium FAQ, Tips & Troubleshooting

Coral Price Keeps Increasing

A lot of people think their price for the Blue Table Coral, White Swing Anemone, Orange Blade Coral, Pink Tree Coral, or Giant Kelp is “increasing”.

What’s actually happening is the UI is poorly designed. The value on the left that keeps increasing is the amount of vitality the coral will produce once purchased; this constantly increases due to your vitality boosts (fish). The actual cost is displayed on the purchase button to the right and is always the same.

Cloud Save Information

Turns out there are THREE ways to cloud save, listed in order of priority:

  • Facebook: If you’re logged into Facebook your Facebook save will overwrite all others. This can be dangerous as if you share FB accounts it may try to auto-load the save someone else uploads to the same account. Facebook saves are also the only ones that transfer across OS (iOS <-> Android)

    • Facebook has been removed from the game
    • This means there is no way to transfer saves between iOS and Android anymore
  • iCloud/Google Play: This is the standard and recommended way to save: when signed in your save (and User Tag) are uploaded to your cloud account so if you log in on another device with this account you can retrieve your save. The Google Play Games logo shows if you’re signed in on Android, I assume iOS has similar? Can anyone confirm?
  • User Tag: Turns out Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium also saves even without icloud/Google Play, and if you disconnect from your device account, you may revert to a User Tag, hence the save discrepancies.

If you’re unsure, I’d double check that your device is signed in. Don’t worry about “creating an account”, if you have a functional Android or iOS device you already have a Google Play Games or iCloud account basically. There might be a brief “create your nickname” thing but you already have an account so just log in.

Basically there should be no worries as long as you’re signed in to iCloud/Google and you’re the only person on your account. If you’re NOT signed in, your save data might be saved but not in a way you can recover on a different device (or if the app is deleted.)

The app auto saves on any kind of account, and auto-loads if it detects the server’s save is more recent than the local one (even if it has less “progress”!).

Gameplay Efficiency

Adding a new fish is almost always the most effective method of using your money once you have enough, but if your earnings are slow it might be best to upgrade smaller amounts elsewhere.

Storing your fish has no negative effects; you keep the vitality bonuses and they still count towards hidden fish unlocks. The only gameplay features displayed fish affect are the photo quest and the Fish’s Vitality hearts to tap, since those spawn overhead of a specific fish.

Whether Lonely Coralite or Coral, I always upgrade 25 levels at a time to get the doubling bonus. The per-level upgrade is inconsequential.

I generally don’t upgrade Coral until the next level is less than what I earn either per tap or per second. Not a hard rule, but easy to remember and should never waste too much vitality.

Time your skill uses well. If you can buy a fish before using your skills, always do so.

You don’t have to actually post when AbyssRium prompts you to share. You still get the Vitality bonus if you exit out of twitter/etc and delete the draft. Do this every time you get a Quest to take a photo of a fish to double your Vitality rewards. This trick works in almost any game that rewards you for sharing by the way, at least on Android.

Once Song of the Moon and Delicious Food are leveled up even a bit, your coral earnings, Free Vitality (from ads), and Photo Quests will be permanently worthless

You can shut the Lonely Coralite up by turning off “Script” in the options.

When buying repeats of a fish, the first will be large and all the rest will be a second, smaller size. The variance isn’t much for smaller fish and is hardly noticeable, but with large fish you’ll notice the first one is huge and the latter ones are relatively “bite-sized”. The difference is especially noticeable with whales and sharks.

Fish will “school”, swimming together in a loose-to-dense pack if more than one fish of the same species is added to the tank. It’s most noticeable with lots of fish. Even fish that don’t school in real life, such as Giant Squids or Whales, will still tend to school to some extent in AbyssRium.

Fish have to be the exact same type to school. A blue clownfish will not school with an orange clownfish, though due to sharing AI their general movement pattern will be similar.

Cheating the Clock

Cheating the clock has major downsides and will disable most of your skills and some other features like Events due to the always-online features in AbyssRium, but a few tricks still work.

Cheating to get the Pygmy Seahorse and Mahi Mahi still seem to work, and they’re all you really need to mess around to be sure you get.

Moving the clock forward by 31 minutes after you close AbyssRium can also give you a chance at getting any of the Notification Fish.

Moving the clock backward while Spirit of Life is active will “refresh” its timer instead of causing it to expire if the clock is set back to a point where Spirit of Life was still in effect. E.g. if there’s 1 minute remaining, go back 13 minutes.

“Start Application Upon Notification” fish

Video Guide here.

There are 4 of these fish with mostly the same unlock. They will only be unlocked in exactly this order:

  • Spotted Mandarin Dragonet
  • Juvenile Spotted Boxfish
  • Whale Shark
  • Red Weedy Sea Dragon
    • This one additionally requires White Swing Anemone

The way these fish are supposed to work is that there’s a notification that can pop up exactly 31 minutes after closing the app which will then stop working after 10 minutes. There is only a random chance every 31 minutes and from this point on we’re going to forget the “notification” aspect entirely because these fish are buggy garbage, particularly on iOS. Instead, we’re going to force Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium to give up the goods.

Thanks to GK Ghima for testing a lot of info in this section.

Notification fish come in a set order, and can be received even if the actual notification doesn’t appear, but only if you check at the right time and the check passes. “Notice” in the Gear menu can be disabled and you’ll still get these notifications; Notice is only for the useless vitality notification, turn it off.

To force AbyssRium to give you the fish, close the app and set your device’s clock forward 31 minutes, then re-open the app. Try several times and see if you get the fish (it will start a Hidden Fish popup as soon as the game starts after the loading screen). It’s not a 100% chance every time. It’s taken up to 20 times for some people, but it works as long as you’re moving the clock and have the required Coral.

The Whale Shark appears to require the Star Horn coral in addition to this, and the Red Weedy Sea Dragon requires the White Swing Anemone.

If you get the notification but not the fish, close Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium again and reopen it quickly to see if you get it.

What the heck is Inbox?

The inbox is just where you get items Support has given you usually as a result of a bug you’ve encountered. Most players will never get anything here in normal circumstances.

Abyssrium is not exactly a bug-free game. You can report bugs via the Gear menu (bug report at the bottom) or AbyssRium’s Facebook page, and I’ll try to note common/major bugs here. If you don’t see a bug here be sure to report it to AbyssRium’s developers since they may not be aware of it (and if they are, they might have a fix for it). The devs are very bad at regular communication but decent at one-on-one support.

Not getting enough vitality

This is a fatal bug some people are getting where the Coralite suddenly produces less than 1% of the vitality that it should. There is no workaround and the developers do not reply on facebook to reports of this bug. Your game may be permanently ruined if this occurs.

Multiple taps not counting

Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium no longer counts more than 3 taps at once, tapping with four fingers will count as one, but three will count as three. Never use more than three fingers.

Not Getting Notifications/Notification Fish

If you’re on iOS, a possible workaround is to change your Notification settings for Abyssrium to Alerts instead of Banners. Go to Settings > Notifications > Tap Tap Fish, and change Alert Style to Alerts.

Layout Bug/Code instead of fish names

If your layout is bugged and looks like this, go to the Gear menu and change languages to Japanese/etc then back to your native language, it may fix it.

Thanks to KevlarZach on Reddit for the workaround.

Not getting Notification Fish (iOS)

Can’t get ads to watch/ Same Ad Every Time

Clearing your device’s Advertising ID.

I don’t have the update!

Starting with the Christmas Update, it seems Abyssrium may do slow-rollouts where users get the update at different times. It may take a few days for the update to reach you. But as far as I know everyone with a compatible device should have the update now?

In an extreme case, one user reported backing up their save, deleting the app and reinstalling (on iOS) got them the current update.

My fish are disappearing!

Nothing in AbyssRium will ‘eat’ or erase fish (short of your save being deleted); if your fish are missing from your tank, you’ve probably hit the population cap: check the numbers left of the “manage” button on the menu bar along with Vitality and Gems. If you’re at, say, 80/80, you’ve hit the cap for ‘active’ fish and every new fish you add will ‘deactivate’ the oldest fish in the tank.

You can press Manage to store or withdraw fish, or even store all your fish at once. You’ll eventually get far more fish than you can display at once, so you’ll eventually need to be picky about which fish you want to have out on display (or just let the auto-storing do its thing). Whether fish are stored or not has no effect on gameplay, unlocks, or vitality earnings, you still get all benefits of owning the fish.

Check your connection

Just means Abyssrium lost internet connection, usually disabling Skills and Events. Ensure your connection is stable and wait up to a minute and it usually comes back; close the app if not and it should reconnect if your connection actually is fine.

An increasing amount of AbyssRium’s features require an online connection (including skills, events, Daily Attendance fish rewards, and all ad rewards) so note this game is effectively unplayable offline.

Delete Saved Data

It’s gotten harder and harder to “start over” in AbyssRium since it now auto-saves and auto-reloads, so even deleting the app will reload your save instantly. The only way to start a new file is to delete the app and load a different Apple ID or Google Play account before Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium can reload your save.

If you’re thinking of starting over to make things easier…don’t. That’s not how this game works. No matter what mistakes you make progress is basically linear and it’s very hard to actually “waste” vitality. Since it’s exponential growth, wasting 10 A vitality early on will mean absolutely nothing because soon enough you’ll be making literally thousands of times that and be able to buy whatever you missed. Gems are the only thing you can “waste” and as long as you spend them on skills instead of vitality, nothing’s really a permanent waste.

Purchasing Premium Package fish failed

The first thing to do when you don’t get an IAP fish (don’t buy IAP fish) is to always request a refund IMMEDIATELY from your app store. The app store will refund you unlike the developers, but you have to be quick about it.

General Troubleshooting Last Resort

Tap Tap Fish AbyssRium has a pretty good cloud save system that’s now automatic, so assorted issues have been corrected by some users simply by backing up, deleting the app and redownloading it, then downloading their save back. Make sure you’re backed up by clicking the “save to cloud” icon in the Gear menu and checking the date the last save was on.

  1. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but for the Mummy Mahi Mahi, does that mean we need to leave exactly 5 Mummy Clownfish and NO other fish in our aquarium, or is it possible to unlock without putting away all your other fish as long as you have exactly 5 Mummy Clownfish out? Thanks!

  2. Hi Sir Tap Tap! Just wanted to let you know it seems like at least some of the 2016 Halloween fishes require more than 2 2017 base fishes to unlock. I didn’t have any of the 2016 fishes, but I wasn’t really paying that much attention when I first started unlocking fishes so… there seems to be varying reports on the reddit megathread too. Anyways here’s a partial list of the unlock requirements I’ve discovered so far:

    Dogface Puffer: 3 Witch Blowfishes
    Bone Turtle: 3 Cemetery Turtles
Ghost Dolphin/Bone Dolphin: 5 Halloween Dolphins
    Ghost Ray: 5 Vampire Rays
    Goblin Shark: 3 Coffin Sharks

    1. Ugh the devs can’t make any of this simple can they. Thanks for the info though, I’ll update

      1. Ikr it’s honestly quite confusing. And no problem! Working on the whales now, and I also have friends who doesn’t have any 2016 fishes and are still waiting for the update, so I might come back with more info if there isn’t any on reddit.

        1. I’ve unlocked the bone whale! My friend also just got the update and it seems that if you didn’t have any 2016 fishes beforehand, you’ll need at least 3 base fishes to unlock them. The only exceptions are ghost dolphins, bone dolphins and ghost rays, which require 5 base fishes to unlock.

          1. The unlocks are infuriatingly overcomplicated. I’ve updated the list with all the known amounts so far

  3. I just went into Kim’s aquarium to try and snap pictures of the hidden tombstones…. And they are still under the Spring theme! Their aquarium doesn’t even have the farms yet. Has anyone else reported this issue?

  4. Sir Tap Tap the Legendary Sunfish fish is back! Players can produce more of the fish if they’ve reached it’s unlock requirements!

  5. Apparently got the update right away this time! The 2016 Halloween fishes do in fact unlock when you have 2+ of the source material fishes. 2 or more Mummy Clownfishes unlock Bone Fish; same goes for Ghost Fish (2017) and Ghost Fish (2016), Vampire Football Fish and Football Fish. That’s what I’ve unlocked so far, still working on the other ones (I didn’t save up enough during the fall event).

  6. It’s not necessary to have 5 ghost sea horses for the ghost jellyfish, I just unlocked it by sharing 3 pics (of my whale shark) while wearing the decorations

  7. Ok Kim is still in spring costume and there is no clam farm at all visible. How am I suppose to find tombstones?

    1. Clam farm is behind and to right (from the camera) of the Coralite, about half a Coralite width away. Not 100% sure it appears without it but I assume it does. Aside from the Fusion fish, event fish have never required normal fish to unlock.

    2. Wow, Paula, you are an intellectual giant, we see. When you’re not attacking women who defend themselves against rapist pigs, you’re playing stupid mobile games. What a shocker! I bet you can’t find the clam farm.

  8. Just got the Halloween update! Usually I’m one of the last, but this time I got it immediately (iOS)! Some notes: Halloween 2016 fish are now fusion fish, and it looks like the old themes aren’t coming back. For now, I only see the Bone fish, Ghost fish, Football fish, and Dogface Puffer. Maybe the others see hidden fish?

    1. The 2016 unlock methods didn’t make the 2016 hidden fish appear. Tried taking pictures of the new football fish to get the old dumbo octopus but no luck.

      1. No 2016 event themes. I have a really awful feeling that you might only be able to fuse 2016 fish that you’ve already obtained–it lets me do so for the fish I had gotten through the Gacha but not for the others…please let this be wrong.

        1. I joined after the Halloween event, and got maybe a bone turtle and a ghost fish in the gatcha. I’m able to see several different fusions.

          1. Pretty sure the requirement is 2 of whatever to fuse just like normal Fusion fish. IF you have a fish already it just auto shows up in your menu to fuse even without the “parent” fish though. Which also means that, since I already have them, I can’t test that myself. But it seems to match reports so far

          2. But what about the bone dolphine , the goblin shark, and the bone whale . They are not included in the list

          3. They’re in the list, keep scrolling. The 2016 halloween fish are all fusion fish

        2. Pretty sure they unlock either like the Baby Fish or regular Fusion fish, meaning you need at least two of the source material fish (and possibly the appropriate Farms) for them to appear. They probably don’t have other unlock conditions but I can’t confirm yet, I still don’t have the update. Try getting 2+ of every fish to see until we know more I guess.

Definitely going to be far more expensive to get the old fish than it was in the original event though

    1. Does the game need to be open for the 30 minutes, or will closing and re-opening reset the timer?

      1. I can’t quite tell but I think if it closes (all the way, as in shows you the opening splash screen again when you open it) it resets it. I’ve had it open for at least a half hour and don’t have it yet. Going to leave it sitting on the charger and not touch it to get it now

          1. hard to tell since there’s no tracker visible on hidden fish, glad you got it though!

  9. I just got the stripped Marlin today after 5 month of playing without getting it, I wanted ti share my experience on how you can get it faster and easier. I uninstalled the app after saving my progress to the cloud then I installed it again and made sure what was the time when I first opened the app , thirty minutes later the Marlin just appeared in front of me and I was to capture them

    1. Hm, never thought of something like that…an extreme measure but it’d be interesting to see if it’s more consistent. I imagine the 10% chance still applies though

    1. “Expand” is in the menu next to fish and coral. And yeah, Halloween starts next week it sounds like. Already put some info in.
And glad the guide’s been so helpful!

  10. Thank you so much for your guide, it has helped me immensely! Did I notice correctly you keep your candies from event to event? Also, do you think we will get a Halloween event this year?

  11. Finally got that damn star marlin. I kept only 3 seahorses in the water because they’re less distracting and opened the app at the top of the hour and watched a maple leaf ad for good measure. Kept my eye on the tank 5 minutes b4 the 30 minutes hit and it came a couple of minutes after the 30 minutes

  12. Sir Tap Tap. Congrats!!! I saw your video that shows you have the green kelp and associated fish – and thanks again as always. I managed to achieve it yesterday. I do not have the Juvenile Pinnate Spadefish, but 1KYOBW unlocked when I had 114 fish – as I have 3 premium fish – which you mention (but I thought I would still have to have all the normal fish!). I would never have got this far without your guide – so thanks again for helping keep it fun

    1. Thanks, and congrats yourself!

You can make a fake facebook to quickly add people for the spadefish, it’s what I did. They kept banning my accounts when I got too many friends, but you can definitely get one long enough to get the spadefish.

      Happy to help!

      1. Cool – Thanks I wasn’t sure it could be a fake one so thats good to know! I cannot believe anyone can get far without being dead first…..

        1. Facebook is pretty crazy with their real name policy, but a fake name can easily get the 5 friends. They usually nuke them once they reach some amount of friends

      1. Awesome! This is great news as I finished the Fall event within the first 2 days of its release, so I have LOTS of those lovely maple candy currencies! Thank you for your help. Have a great “tap tap” day!

  13. I live by this guide. Thanks so much!! Might be helpful to mention that you can remove all other fish but the Star striped rays in order to get your 200 maple leaves for the sunfish. May seem obvious but It took me a while to realize you could do that 😂

    1. Happy to help!
Oh, and thanks for reminding me! I actually mentioned that in the video guide for the fall event but forgot to put it in the written one. The Expand mode helps too, I put in both tips

  14. thanks for the guide – seriously helped, but I just wanted to ask a question, I wanted to buy one of the premium packages, but the price in app is different to the one apple store displays? for example a $4.99 package comes up as $7.99 and a $9.99 package will come up as $14.99? I’m not sure if this is a bug and I’ll only be charged with the price stated in the app or it’s just something I’m not getting? thank youu

    1. It probably depends on your region; the $5 package is actually $5 in USD. If your store’s currency is CAD/AUD/etc it might be different. Not sure which would be right though since mine wasn’t in conflict, I would guess the app store. If your device is set to require a password before purchase it should be safe to tap and confirm the exact price before iOS makes the purchase.

  15. Does the star stripped marlin timer start over after you take a pic of the reward fish? The box pops up after you share it saying x amount acquired during absence. From my understanding they think I left the game.

    1. I doubt literally anything in the entire game resets the timer other than it hitting 0. People have gotten it with the app open for less than 30 minutes so it clearly stays persistent. All signs point to it being a cumulative timer across all sessions. Why are you doing photo rewards at your level anyway though…

        1. At least in my case I’m pretty sure I’d lose more vitality by not tapping once than I’d gain with a photo quest…

  16. Hi – first off, Sir Tap Tap you are incredible! Thank you for the time and mega-effort you have put into this game so that we can all enjoy it. A few weeks ago I was ready to ditch the game, then I started using your guide and have progressed significantly. I’ve been playing the game for 86 days, I’m at level 3202 and here’s my problem:

I have yet to see the “it is time to get the hidden fish” notification.

Does this message come from the Corallite or a fish? I’ve tried all sort of things like playing the game for 30 minutes, sitting there reading pop-up messages from Corallite hoping the one I’m waiting for will appear but still no luck. I’ve tried leaving the game at 30 minutes and returning 30 minutes later. I’vebout a lot of time into it, LOL.

I tried to follow you guideline to a ‘T’ to make sure I have the correct settings for notifications and I’ve searched other forums for help with no luck.

Any tips for on what I can do to pinpoint how and when to expect this message so that I can begin to unlock all of those fish?

    Thanks! LN

    1. Happy to help!

It’s a push notification, it should show in the notification drawer with your new emails etc. You’re probably on iOS where the notifications don’t seem to work consistently/ at all.

I’d just follow the steps in this section, you can force the check within a few minutes to just get the fish: https://sirtaptap.com/2016/08/tap-tap-fish-abyssrium-walkthrough-hidden-fish-guide/#Receive_Upon_Notification

You can turn off the Coralite’s messages (turn off “script” in options), they’re basically complete garbage. They’re general hints for hidden fish and if you have this guide they’re basically anti-help. You can turn off Notice too, it’s only for Vitality, not for the notification fish

          1. I know you’re busy with other comments, just thought I’d update that’s I still haven’t had any luck getting notification fish :(. I tried your helpful suggestions with no result and can’t think of anything else other than your suggestion that its down to iOS where the notifications don’t seem to work consistently and in this case, at all. It’s so disappointing because I’ve come so far in the game now and am stuck on notification fish. Thanks for trying to help me out.

          2. I would just completely forget the actual notifications, I don’t think they work remotely right on iOS. Just force the check manually with the clock shifting method. You’ll need to try several times each fish, but it works. I’ve had many people confirm it that didn’t get notifications. I’m honestly considering removing the advice to look for notifications. There’s no harm in pushing the clock forward.

          3. Thank you, Sir Tap Tap. I’ll keep ya posted. You are a gift to the game – and the gamers.

  17. I still can’t get the star marlin. When does this “100% spawn rate” kick in? 30 minutes after opening the app? 30 minutes after watching the event video? How does “leaving” to watch ad videos or collect friendship gifts affect this?

My game is version 1.4.9. Is this the latest version? The Google Play store isn’t giving me an option to update.

Thanks! Your guide is a lifesafer!

    1. Pretty sure 1.4.9 is the latest version, on the Play store the green “what’s new” text should mention the marlin if you have the update.

The timer is cumulative across all sessions and that means you will basically never have any idea where it is until the marlins show up. It’s why they’re so annoying. There’s really nothing you can do but keep an eye out. I’m pretty sure any time the app is open adds to the timer but it’s nearly impossible to tell.

  18. I love your guide, it has helped me catch all the fish almost. But I have used delicious food over 100 times and I have the sea urchin farm and I have not gotten my red lobster😔 I sent them a message, but I guess they never looked at it

    1. It only counts DF casts after the Sea Urchin update, sure you’ve used that many since then? It takes a while

  19. Thanx Sir Tap Tap for getting the word out on the star stripped marlin, I just updated and thought sure the event was gonna pass w/o me getting it. Haven’t got it yet but there’s hope now

    1. Have you been online? It’s only days that you’ve checked in online. You should see the calendar showing up once a day that’ll show you how far you are

        1. What’s the calendar showing? It doesn’t show at all once you’ve gotten the last rewards, so it sounds like you’re still getting gems. Did you get the other calendar fish?

          1. I deleted the app and reloaded my data from the cloud and it worked.
            Thanks for the information though!

  20. Looks they updated to make it so that the starlin spawns 100 % after watching 15 event ads. But to me it seems unclear if you now have to watch 15 more or if they’ll come if you already watched 15. I’m sure I’ve watched the ad at least that much…

    1. Complaining works!
I doubt you have to watch 15 more, the flag for the timer and the timer are probably the same, they just appear 100% of the time once the timer hits 0 now.

  21. Sir Tap Tap- Does “visit your lonely coralite 20 times in a day to see what happens” actually do anything?

    1. That’s just a (bad) hint towards one of the hidden fish, forget which but one is for opening the app 20 times in one day. I’d just turn off the Coralite’s chatterings (it’s the Script option in the gear menu). They’re supposed to help you with the hidden fish but they don’t stop once you’ve gotten the respective fish and all the requirements are in the hidden fish list anyway.

    1. Odds seemed already really low with the numbers someone on Reddit ran. I’d personally only advise ever doing the luck shell when you need to watch some ads for the daily mission. It’s not only gambling, it’s gambling with really crap payout

  22. I am having serious trouble getting my fall whale. I believe I have met all requirements and nothing has changed in 3 days. I need one more song of the moon to equal 12, well I have been playing the game heavy these last 3 days with moon song and nothing still, getting frustrated to say the least.i bought all the fall event stuff and have all event fish.can anyone please help me.?

    1. Don’t read the ingame descriptions, check out the guide itself. You’re missing a hidden fish and misreading the ingame description as being about using the song of the moon 12 times. You use the song of the moon one time, after getting all 12 other fish. You’re missing a fish, read the fall list to find what it is

  23. Actually idk Bonito required any coral or else LOL i’m keep trying to camping them but still no luck :'(at CN Vitality atm :'(

    1. It’s just totally random. It doesn’t even require sea urchin farm so I seriously doubt it requires the CS or DL vitality

          1. Congrats! And yeah, these fish are incredibly stressful which is absolutely not the point of the game…really weird they added 2 more of them

          2. Ty and ikr. Hope they wont do it anymore lol Or else newbie gonna have more stressful fishes lol

  24. Why do you say that fusion fish help to speed up the arduous process of collecting 50 tang and 30 angel? Creating a fusion fish costs one of the fish ingredients, so there is zero net change in your number of tang or angel fish.

    1. Because having more vitality means you make more fish faster and you don’t lose anything. It’s a significant net win.

  25. Hi, first off thank you for the amazing guide! I’d have quit in frustration months ago without it.

A question: how does creating fusion tangs (or angels, haven’t done the 30 angels requirement yet) speed up the process of unlocking the hidden one? Fusion requires that you already have a tang to fuse, unless I’m missing something obvious. I just got to the 50 tangs point this evening and it required 50 total tangs, both regular and fusion. The ones I sacrificed to the fusion process didn’t count. Hope that made sense.

    1. Happy to help!
You’re right that they only count for one Tang/Angle, but since Fusion Fish boost vitality rate pretty significantly overall, it’s still faster to fuse as you gain speed but don’t lose tangs.

  26. Missed the star marlin many times…usually just saw the edge of the tail fin. Used the hint the marlin show up thirty minutes after the ad, went to “camera” mode, and zoomed out to get the most water/smallest Coralite and waited. Was successful the next ad. Hope this works for others.

    1. At least you got it. IF anyone else sees the marlins, remember to take a photo immediately (of anything) to freeze the frame so the marlins don’t run away. Then you can pan the camera at your leisure. There’s no need to chase them down in realtime.

  27. Hi all, I’m having a terrible time with every kind of marlin (unoriginal, I know). I’ve been playing for a couple of weeks, I have the blue whale and am on Y vitality amidst a great time playing the fall event. My friend and I are connected through Facebook and play together, she has both the starlin and the striped Marlin although I’m slightly higher than her on the leaderboard. I had her put them in her aquarium so I could see what they looked like from the friend button where you can look at the aquariums of Facebook friends and although I could see her other fish (only 4 clown fish and a Jelly, so the tank was mostly empty) I couldn’t see either Marlin. I watched for at least 10 minutes in case they were just out of sight, but no luck. Is it possible my device can’t see them? I have an iPhone 6S, I’m logged into game centre, I have watched the fall video at least 50 times… I have followed the Marlin guide religiously… I just don’t understand why they have forsaken me??

    1. Don’t worry about it–the non-swarm marlin, AKA the ones you actually buy, have really bad AI that swims outside of view. However that AI is 100% different from the ones that swarm around, the swarm one moves all over the whole screen. Trust me there’s nothing that makes the marlin unobtainable, it’s a really bad really random unlock. Good luck though!

      1. Ok, thank you! My friend is actually just a really good fisher woman and is likely excelling at the event and marlin fishing due to her skill and dedication. She’s the real fish queen. I’ll just wait patiently and hope some hapless marlin accidentally wanders on to my screen because it hears I’m friends with the fish queen. Thanks again!

  28. Hey, so on reddit i saw a post that some guy got a ticking sound and after that he got Bonito, he said he has volume up,notify up,and music down

    1. Never heard anyone else report that. I kinda doubt it. There’s always tons of false rumors about the marlin/etc

  29. The app keeps crashing about 30 minutes after I watch the event video. Im pretty sure it’s happening when the event marlin would spawn. Does anyone else have this problem? Already sent bug message via app and Facebook

    1. Yeah crash bug is pretty common. Won’t affect the marlin though, the timer continues after the 15th video regardless of whether you watch ads

  30. I’m sorry if this was already been addressed and I missed it. I tried to skim through all the comments. =)
I was wondering if there’s a place where you can view the hidden fish you’ve earned? Like in a notification feed, or something. I’ve convinced myself that I’ve seen the Pajama Cardinal before I knew what I was doing with the game, (I’m four days in), but I can’t find it in my ‘Manage’ list or on the ‘Storage’ list. And I can’t get it to pop up when I try to get it now. Any insight?
I’d also like to echo what many have said before. Thank you so much for all of the time and effort and PATIENCE you’ve put into creating and maintaining this. This is absolutely amazing and I feel like it’s helping a lot of us maintain our sanity trying to get all the little guys we want. (Which is kind of ironic, because I feel like there’s subliminal messaging to take care of our mental selves.)

    1. Yeah the list is pretty hard to read now, use the Manage Fish page instead (tap Manage) to see all your fish. It includes all normal and hidden fish in one tab though

  31. Does unused fish vitality roll over into total vitality after an event? I would assume so but as we know this game can be pretty silly sometimes.

Thanks so much for maintaining this awesomely helpful guide! It’s quite impressive.

    1. Not sure what you mean, if you mean the “leaves”, event currency is just a number that’s kept in the game. The next event all your leaves will be preserved and displayed as Candy or whatever the next event currency is. It never factors into Vitality, but it’s not wasted either.

      And thanks!

  32. Changed the sorting of the comments to Newest instead of Best (didn’t know you could do that), figured it might facilitate discussion and asking questions. The same old comments were always at the top the old way which is no good!

  33. I have all the requirements to unlock the Fall Forest Whale but it won’t unlock? What am I not doing?Help

  34. So if it’s possible that the Halloween event may follow the Fall one, and the old fish from last year MAY come back, I’ve decided that once I get the star whale, I’m going to save up my currency for the next event. I’m not a super consistent player, and don’t really enjoy farming the currency, so I want to start saving now so I don’t have to worry. Doing some quick math, it looks like the old Halloween event cost 28200 to get everything (with a whopping 50 Ghost Fish!). I figure they’re going to sell the Theme, Costume, and Dye this time around, so add anywhere from 2000-7000 for that to be on the safe side. Then I figure they’ll copy the anniversary style by adding Fusion Fish so old players have something to work towards. So conservatively I’m going to estimate we’ll need a good 50000 for the event.

    What do you think?

    1. TBH you could beat the old Halloween event EASILY within a week. I wouldn’t forgo any Fall fish you really want just to save up. Saving up is always a good idea, but you have probably at least 2-3 more weeks of Fall to save up and the Halloween event should be 3-4 weeks like usual.

I’m not sure they won’t raise the prices though. The old Halloween event was the first (so least tested) event and all the other events have been notably pricier. Basically nothing is for sure, I would just save up currency in general but also buy any fish you really want while you have the chance, you can earn Halloween currency during Halloween. While it might be pricier, I don’t think it’ll cost 200,000 like the anniversary event…that was horrible.

      1. Thanks for your reply! Yeah, I’ve been playing pretty slowly and will get the Star Whale tomorrow. After that I will follow your advice and get a few extra fish then start saving up. The Anniversary event was indeed horrible… I just gave up. Around the Spring event I got tired of the grind of gathering candy and slacked off, so I didn’t have anything saved up, and from the beginning wasn’t willing to put the effort in to get all the fusion fish. I don’t even remember if I got the cake whale or not. This event is much, much better, and I’m hoping the Halloween event will stay relaxed too.

By the way, another quick question. By the end of the year I’m thinking of buying one of the packages as I’ve enjoyed the game this year (anni event notwithstanding!) and was wondering if there’s a particular thing worth getting over the others. I’m thinking of spending up to $10 on it. I REALLY wish the Giant Jellyfish Package was $10 instead of $20 as I’d jump on that one for sure, but since it isn’t, is there anything you’d recommend over others to buy? Or just pick a package with a fish I like?

  35. I started playing abyssrium just about two weeks ago, if that’s relevant…
I got the popup and the sudden death flavor text for the legendary mola mola, but I can’t seem to figure out how to actually get it?

    1. If you didn’t buy them during the event you can’t get them anymore, they removed it from the game. It’s super stupid.

      1. i got the “SUDDEN DEATH” too lol but none legendary mola mola xD i’m starting to play this game after that event gone like few months lol

    2. wait wait…two weeks ago as in you never played the Anniversary event? But you still got the popup? That doesn’t make sense…that almost sounds like they left the unlock condition and message in the game but not the actual fish. Which…considering the devs, wouldn’t entirely surprise me.

      1. No, I never played any anniversary event, but I definitely got the popup. Thank you for the quick response, and I guess it’s just a bizarre glitch.

      2. I got the pop up too after the anniversary event ended. I got excited seeing the SUDDEN DEATH bubble thinking I could somehow unlock it but nope, nothing!

  36. In the friends section, when I collect others gift boxes, how do they collect from mine?
Do I need to make an aquarium for that or is it automatic? This is one area I don’t fully understand.

    1. They just do it at their end, nothing you do at your end but friending them is required.
I don’t really recommend bothering with the friend reward though, unless you’re sure the vitality amount it offers is significant. It’s based on Coral vitality, and Coral vitality becomes permanently useless beyond a point (Z vitality for sure)

  37. The whale shark does not require star horn coral, as I received it when I was only at least at pearly anemone

    1. Huh, really? Can anyone else confirm? Lots of people had a hell of a time with the whale shark and waiting until star horn seemed to be the only fixed

  38. Um I wanted to ask a question concerning the star marlin, do you have to watch 15 maple leaf ads in one day or you can watch the 15 over a period of time ?

  39. I love love loooove your posts, i always come here when some update comes out, now, the fall event, that marlin fish is making me crazy, can you give me more tips or some kind of hope? im getting lost ;-;

    1. Unfortunately no, make sure you watch 15 ads for leaves and after that it’s basically pure random just like the marlin. You can only know where the timer is 30 minutes after the 15th ad watch only and they don’t seem to have a 100% chance to appear. I would definitely send a facebook message to the devs (https://facebook.com/abysssaga) to tell them you’re unhappy about it though, they’re the only ones who can stop these terrible random unlocks.

  40. Congrats on $100! Parker is amazing. :0

Wouldn’t ya know, I was watching for the star marlin and got the actual marlin this afternoon. What surprise!

    1. Thanks!
And yeah, lots of people seem to be getting the marlin while waiting. Dulls the pain I guess

      1. Lol, yeah, getting the striped marlin and the bonito while waiting for that damn star marlin to show up is the only reason I’m reluctantly forgiving the devs for that one. Bad enough for a regular hidden fish to have that requirement, but one with an event time limit that you have to get in order to get the several remaining event fish? Not cool.

        1. You dont’ have to play 30 minutes consecutive to get the marlin. It could happen any time you’re playing. Could just leave your phone on a charger with the game running and glance at it while you’re doing other stuff too

          1. Yar, thanks – what I meant was more that today was my last day with the free time and overall idleness needed to check for it that frequently. Alas!!

          2. WHELP, wow, I just read about the update. Daaaang, thanks for that info. Fingers crossed finally. DX

          3. I’m so grateful for your diligent information gathering. 30 minutes rolled around for me, no Starlins, but angry and suspicious I snapped a picture and looked around, and there they were off-screen. c h r i s t.

            But now all is grand!

  41. Hi Sir TapTap! I was wondering, can you close the game in between watching maple leaf ads, or do you have to watch all 15 of them in one play session before the starlin shows up?

    1. It’s cumulative, everything in the game is cumulative unless otherwise noticed. I’ll add a note about that though

      1. omg i was about to ask this too, and im really about to cri now, i been trying to get the marlin like in ages, and even tried to watch 15 ads in one day, and another people down there said that the marlin spawned out of camera range, it was the same as bonito actually…. i was lucky with bonito bcs i was about to take a pic of a dolphin…….

  42. I’ve also noticed that Midas Tap does count towards the Hard Worker achievement, so it does kind of make the achievement more attainable, I guess? Slowly working towards the 10000000 goal.

    1. yeah they added that in an update. It’s more useful than it used to be (I’d say autotapping for event currency is it’s best feature though). Couple ways to exploit it to be truly auto too like the ad/banana trick

  43. If anyone noticed yeah I kinda broke the site last night. Should be 100% back and faster than ever now! And I can make it even faster…as soon as I’m brave enough to touch it again. Not today, lol

    1. They’re just rare, not much you can do but wait. They have a chance to show up every 30 minutes the app is open(cumulative) but not guaranteed.
Make sure it was 15 ads for leaves specifically though, I have a feeling only those count.

    1. Probably nothing, they’re just rare. They don’t even seem to have a particular requirement since Sea Urchins apparently aren’t required according to at least one person.

      1. Thank u for getting back to me 1more ? I thought I read somewhere about tapping the present box ing Fb friends area and getting a fish. Anything to that?

        1. That was for the long since past Valentine’s Day Event, can’t get those anymore. Maybe next year. You can read all about the prior events in the Past Events section if you’re curious

          1. Ty again. I am one of ur older players…50 ish. I don’t understand alot of this games oddities.however I am on level bv and the numbers of my .. (score, vitality) not sure is advancing v e r y slow. Should I hit song of the moon before I hit the other skill buttons? I have tried different ways but it is so slow now. Just want to say I love this game and gets off to you for being so helpful and kind to explain things over and over. I am constantly learning new nuances of the game.

          2. The Valentine’s Day event was a time-limited event back in february. They have special events every so often with special fish you can only earn during the event; like the Fall fish right now. The Event section explains it a bit more: https://sirtaptap.com/2016/08/tap-tap-fish-abyssrium-walkthrough-hidden-fish-guide/#limited_event_fish

Vitality kinda does that, slows down by default but speeds up when you hit certain milestones (those achievements that increase vitality after you hit Coralite level 2000 and such). Always cast Song of the Moon First. Casting your 3 skills is generally the only “fast” way to earn vitality once you’re a good ways into the game (once you’re getting close to, say, Z vitality). Fusion Fish in the Fish tab and Craters in the Expand tab help a lot, and the Daily Mission is a good way to start the day (at least get the free 2x vitality for 10 minutes and the 10 Coralite levels).

            Happy to help!

          3. Something weird just happened. I went to read ur last response and when I went back to my game (I did not close, just minimized) all my fish on my aquarium screen had changed from what I had on there just a few minutes ago. What s up with that

          4. Not sure what you mean, if you saw some swordfish or tuna, those are the Marlins/Bonito, visiting fish you need to take a picture of to unlock

          5. No these were others. For example……i had a few of the fall event fish on display and when I came back to the page all my fall fish were gone and some of my sharks and dolphins were on my screen swimming around and I had not gone in to manage fish to switch them out.

          6. Do you share a facebook with another player? The cloud saves can overwrite themselves, but you’ll see a “loading cloud save” pop up dialog. Never seen anything like that otherwise, though do note you can only have a certain amount of fish out total and after that it starts storing your “oldest” released fish to make room

  44. I’ve notified that some people have more than 1 unicorn. Would you tell me please, how?

    1. Aside from the assistant sea otter you can buy more of any premium fish with vitality in the Fish tab at any time, even event ones

      1. Why am I unable to find the one that I have purchased? Does it only show up once you have enough vitality? Or should it automatically show up?
By the way, I love your site and look forward to reading more about this amazing, though frustrating, game

      2. Well wouldn’t you know, I apparently looked right past the unicorn. I went back to look for it again, it was right there.
        Thank you

        1. Ah, glad you found it! The sorting order in the fish tab doesn’t always make sense. I wish we could buy from Manage Fish, the list is too long now.

  45. Hey,I just got the star Marlin, It can spawn out of the camera range, I had to focus on a star dolphin to get them. I was reading your guide and I saw something Zoom on the corner of my eye and I thought I lost them, they came back however and snapped a pic!

    1. OMG OK I WILL TRY THIS, cuz im really bout to cry…. i been trying to get those star marlins in ages….. its near the end of 30 minute right??

      1. The timer is effectively random since unless you just watched the 15th ad you’ll have no concept of where in the cycle it is. I think just closing the main menu should give you a wide enough view to monitor for them but I haven’t seen in person this “out of camera” behavior some people report. Don’t forget you can freeze frame and adjust the camera all you want without the fish moving just by taking a picture. I don’t think any particular fish are necessary to take advantage of that.

        1. so its AFTER 30 minutes right? i have to wait for eternity after 30 minutesss, i wanted to get the star one but taptap gave me thaat skinny plunky ass bonito insteedddd (lol i know im kinda happy i got a bonito but fall even aint last forever) THIS UPDATE IS THE PRETTIEST ONE if i aint got that star marlin im bout to flip.

          1. Every 30 minutes after the timer starts there’s a chance (and the timer never stops until you actually get it). If you missed the first chance the timer is effectively random since you don’t know where it is. Just have to watch. Try keeping the main menu closed while watching idle so you get a better view, and remember to take a picture immediately once they appear, you can adjust the camera during the freeze frame to focus on them.

  46. Hey! I logged in just to tell you this. Thank you SO MUCH for all the work and research you do to make these guides. Your videos are also extremely guiding and you never leave out or skip steps but somehow are also able to stay on point and not long-winded. Recently I set up the NOX player thing with your help because the macros look really helpful (I’m usually playing on iOS). You’re fantastic. Keep up the work you do! You have my heartfelt thanks and support c:

  47. If you use the time “hack” to watch the 15 ads, does it still count for the star marlins? Eg setting the phone timer forward 30 mins at a time to skip waiting for the ads to refresh?

    1. Probably yeah. But moving the clock forward after the 15th probably won’t work on the MArlin timer since it’s ingame time

  48. Hey SirTapTap! Quick question regarding Nox (and if there is a better place to post this, I’m happy to move it)… I just downloaded and set up Nox (after a loooong search to find sufficiently updated drivers for a video card that it would load!) yesterday, only to discover that Abyssrium wasn’t able to be loaded on my “device” according to the Play Store. How did you get it installed? Will an apk work for this?

    1. Weird, just shows up in the shop for me. I’d guess an APK would work regardless. You’re not the first to have that issue but I’m not sure what in Nox’s config might cause it

      1. Welp, the APK installs, but upon opening just gives me a compltely black screen (though a different size and shape), so idk. I’ll prolly try it again in another couple of months. Maybe they’ll have fixed it by then. 🙂

        Thank you!

      2. Not sure what happened to my reply from last time, but I got the Halloween apk installed on Nox, and it also just sits there with a dead, black screen. (Phone screen proportions, though, so that’s an improvement, maybe? lol ) Will let you know if I get it working. 🙂

        1. Weird, I loaded the APK just fine on mine. Try launching “multi drive” from Nox (type multi drive at the windows prompt and you should find it) and make a new Nox virtual machine? It’s definitely able to run abyssRium so I’m not sure why sometimes the VM seems to be missing it from the store.
Might try bumping the specs on the VM in the settings menu too

    1. There’s no need to log out again, people said the same thing about the normal striped marlin and it was false then. My session had been logged in overnight (with my PC running a macro to watch the dumb ads for leaves) for over 10 hours and I still found the Marlins in the morning

      1. Also, do me a favor and tell the originators of this info to stop spreading it? I’m so sick of debunking false rumors about marlin fish (all of them were debunked with the ORIGINAL marlin already) and they just cause confusion and harm. The only thing people need to do is watch 15 ads and keep an eye out, ideally 30 minutes after the 15th ad if they’re counting but it’s not a huge deal if they miss the first chance

  49. Just a heads up, i’ve just unlocked the Bonito without even unlocking the Urchin Farm. It may have the same issue as the Sharpnose Puffer.

  50. Hi! Just wanted to let you know that the Fall Forest Whale unlocked immediately when I used SOTM after owning all event fish (except star whale). Seems like you don’t have to use it 12 times after getting all the other event fishes.

  51. “Yeah, it’s like the devs actively hate us at this point”
I literally laughed out laugh at work… You made my day with this 😀

  52. I’m a mod for the largest Abyssrium group on FB and we got confirmation from the devs that the Halloween event will return after the fall even finishes! 🙂

  53. I just got my bonito (when I stopped looking for it…) I’m pretty sure it somehow spawned when I opened the app (as compared to having to have it open for at least 30min for marlins). I couldn’t remember if I had just harvested the urchins though. Sorry it’s not much but am wondering if anyone has figured out the conditions for spawning bonito yet.

    1. the timer is cumulative for marlins and seemingly everything like them. So that’d mean if you close the app on minute 29 and open it on minute 30, yeah, that could happen. It sounds like it’s exactly the same as the marlin, just with a sea urchin requirement

  54. The heck? I’ve had my phone on with the game constantly open for the 15 ads so I don’t mess up the timing, after the 15th ad I waited 30 mins and no marlin? I’ve watched a few more of the maple ads just in case I miscounted and still no Marlins! I always had the app open too!?

    1. It might just not be a 100% chance every 30 minutes to spawn. I wouldn’t only watch at minute 30 either. It’s fine to close the app, just keep an eye open and you’ll see it eventually. The timer for the other marlins was always cumulative so I’m sure this one is too

      1. Aww man, I’ve had the app open for hours and I’ve played it over a day now and still no Marlin. Sucks because I need them to advance on the other event fish, oh well there’s still a month or so for this event so it should show up sooner or later right?

        1. Yeah, It didn’t take me TOO long to find it, but what I did was set up a macro to watch the ads overnight on Nox App Player (I wanted to get the marlin ASAP for a video). By morning I had surely missed the first “chance” for the marlin, watched the app for maybe an hour and did in fact see them. So they definitely show up again, just like the normal marlin

  55. I have no idea if this is new or not but I just won a red lobster for using delicious food for the 100th time. I’ve used this skill way over 100 times.

    1. It’s not new, it’s in the Fusion Fish section. There’s a second hidden fish in there as well. And it only counts uses after the update that added it, that’s a pretty common thing.

  56. this article has helpeed me achieve all my dream fish! and the fall update is just BEAUTFIUL, but when i saw how to get the Star Striped Marlin I am so……….. BUMMED. I think i’ve watched the ads for 15 plus times now and it hadnt showed up! Could it be that i missed my chance? does it HAVE TO after the 15th one?

    1. Happy to help!
And it’s impossible to “miss your chance”, it will simply keep showing up every 30 minutes of time spent with the app open

  57. To unlock the convict tang can you play for a while than wait an hour without touching anything

  58. By the way, Sir Tap Tap, you mentioned why the fall event is related to constellations and lights (e.g. light jellyfish and nebula theme). i’m not sure what it represents for the game creator, but as a Chinese (Korean, Japanese and Chinese people are loosely related) we have this traditional festival called Mid-Autumn Festival. It is the same festival as the Mooncake Festival and Lantern Festival, and since Lantern Festival (albeit of possibly different purpose, lore or culture) is common among these nations (also celebrated by Vietnamese as a significant occassion and by other Chinese in Asian/Southeast Asian countries), the light theme probably hints to the association between fall and lanterns.

Also, coincidentally, the autumn harvest festival for Korea this year (Chuseok) falls on October 4.

Noting that the Winter Olympics are coming to Seoul this year, the winter theme might be sports-related instead of Christmas, although it might be just my crazy imagination hahaha

    1. Ahhh, that might be why then/ We do have those paper lanterns in the US too but they’re more of a christmas thing. Devs are Korean so it might be why.

    1. Of course not, it’d be completely impossible to get for many people otherwise. Convict tang is just buggy. Make sure your phone’s screen stays on the whole time

  59. Happy Sunday, Sir Tap Tap! Two of my new FB friends have costumes (?) for the Lonely Coralite which I’ve never seen before. I wondered if they were new or something from a previous event. The Coralite glows from the inside and has a “crown” of planets! It’s really pretty. Any info about this?

    1. Seems to be some sort of leak or datamining. It’s not obtainable in the unmodified game so far

      1. i think the person was referring to the Space theme that you mentioned in the guide, Sir Tap Tap?

        1. They were, that info is newer than my comment. Though my response isn’t particularly wrong. The only way to get it is to have the Fall theme but not have the fall update. It’s not possible by normal means (and not advised to force it either)

          1. Oh, thanks for the quick reply Sir Tap Tap! By the way, one of your readers Kat mentioned about exploiting the Midas Touch feature 5 days ago where it autotaps indefinitely(holding your finger position throughout an ad) and i asked an Abyssyrium FB group i’m in (i took a snapshot and put a link to your guide as source reference, so i hope you and Kat don’t mind), one of them also confirmed that this can be done consistently. Would you like to add that to your guide so that everyone may know?

          2. I figured the banana method was more practical but I guess I can include that. How exactly does it go again, just hold somewhere midas tap activates then watch an ad and it’ll just keep going until you tap again?

          3. Yes, hold the position even during the ad so that when the game returns, the midas tap autoregisters it and you can let go of your finger while the tap still works, until you tap something else again. But since the people whom i asked confirmed it is only an iOS glitch, it doesn’t work for Android. So the fruit is the most consistent method after all.

  60. Hi Sir Tap Tap!
The autumn megathread has updated more details about the 3 event fishes:

    1. Star Striped Marlin: For this fish you will need to first watch 15 of the event ads (the ones that give you 50 maple leaves). Then wait 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the starry marlins should appear and swarm all over the screen, just like the regular striped marlin. Take a picture, then focus your camera on the marlins and retake the picture to make sure you have them in shot. This should unlock them. Cost: 600 leaves

    2. Light Jellyfish: Share pictures of the star striped marlin 3 times, cost: 1.2 A Leaves

    3. Star whale: Own 5 forest whales, cost: 6.0 A Leaves

i don’t have any friends who have the update though so i can’t help you verify if the details are true.
They even posted a calculation table to estimate how many leaves you need to unlock all event fishes, i’m not gonna copy that so you can refer to the website but the total is 64200 leaves.

By the way, watched your latest YouTube video and your thoughts of creating an app.
Maybe you can consider this suggestion: so that the app doesn’t feel like a redundant copy of your website and can support you through Patreon, maybe let the app consists of several things as a one-stop app for their Abyssyrium needs:

    i) Your guide as in the website, where ads can be removed via supporting Patreon (IAP)
ii) A page that updates us when you have the latest YouTube videos and web posts (kinda like a notification tab, so that the phone does not get annoyed by phone notifications, you only see them when you open the app)
iii) A gallery of all the fish snapshots with their requirements for easy reference (everyone loves photos)
iv) and probably a forum (not the Disqus in this website) so that those who installed your app can share thoughts and photos?

You can even extend your app for all your guides if you want, but it’s all just a crazy suggestion. hahahaha

    1. i don’t have any friends who have the update though so i can’t help you verify if the details are true.

    2. Yeah we’ve got the whole even 100% confirmed at this point. Thanks for the info and the suggestions! Not super interested in making an app right now due to time but maybe eventually

  61. Hi!!! I love this app and i love your guide. So i got tje maple update. And to get tje narwhal you have to dress up the corallite with the maple (not specific, and i had all 3 on so not sure if its all or one) and share pic of the leaf ray 3 times. Hope this helps!

  62. Sir TapTap do you know when the fall event will be available to everyone? You said its in beta testing, so is that what normally happens with all events? I just assumed that if an event came out on the 21st and I didn’t receive the update till two days later that depending on where you live it might have different release dates.

    1. haha oh wow, a THIRD striped marlin style unlock, it’s like they hate us. Thanks for the heads up though.

  63. Hi again!
A reddit megathread revealed the requirements to unlock the remaining fall event fish and even mentioned your guide, but maybe those who already got the update can verify it it is true:

    1. Star Striped Marlin: Take a picture of the star striped marlin after watching the ads for maple leaves 15 times (FUCK), cost: ??
    2. Light Jellyfish: Share pictures of the star striped marlin 3 times, cost: ??
    3. Star whale: Own 5 forest whales, cost: ??

  64. Hello again Sir Tap Tap!
i found an app in Google Play Store about the Abyssyrium hidden fish guide, but one of the snapshots look as if the content was outright copied from your guide in this website. i have not downloaded it to see for myself, but here’s the name of the app

AbyssRium Tap Tap Fish Hidden Fish & Gameplay Tips
    by hilsaapps

If it is not you who developed the app, you might wanna verify if your content has been taken without permission?

    1. Thanks for the heads up, that’s an illegal copy. I don’t have any apps and if I did they’d obviously include the name sirtaptap somewhere. Tried to start the process of reporting it

  65. New fall update. Unicorn, paid. 9.99 fall forest fairy fish. 300 limited edition. Star sickle fish. 300. Limited edition. Fall forest Dumbo octopus. 900. Own 5 fall fairy fish. 1. oh crap, how dare they release the update while I’m trying to move hosts, lol. I figured I had a nice dead period in the game to move over in case I break things (which I did). Thanks, I’ll get that added!

      1. Sorry you get banned! It would be fun to have you for a neighbor. 😉 I just got the Great Blue Whale and am totally thrilled. Again, my thanks for your wonderful help!

        1. I’ll probably make another one soon because the requests started getting overwhelming. Busy trying to move my server hosting today though

  66. Thanks again for all the updates – always helps me to come back and take a look now that I FINALLY got to another coral. Kelp to go……….. Anyway for anyone that purchased Midas Tap, I found a way to really make it worth it, and this might work for others. I have an iPhone 5 (and did post about this before but ages ago). Hold your finger down creating the midas tap and then press on an advert which is either the recharge skill, treasure chest, the free Vitality or the free Gems (but not the Tiny Luck Shell), and KEEP holding your finger down in the same spot, when you return to the game it will run indefinitely. It works if you lift your finger while the ad runs too, however if you leave your finger down when running the ad for recharging your skill and keep it down while selecting all the skills – it will work too. Especially useful if using Spirit of Life at any time. Very useful too, when doing the Finger Warmup for Daily Mission (not such a mission anymore!! If this works for you – the Daily Mission order for me is open the app – take 5 photos. Open Daily mission and claim SOL and immediately use all 3 skills. Then run an ad but ensure Midas Tap initiated and held down. Let SOM run and then hold down a new Midas Tap – recharge your skills – use the skills and if an opportunity to take a photo has come up – do that too, since it is buffed while SOL is running. Do all of this without lifting your finger and Midas Tap still runs when you lift your finger off carefully. I then only run ads when it is time to work on another achievement of the daily mission. I can also open other apps on my phone and come back to it if I am quick, and make sure i press on the bottom of the screen near all the menus. It makes it worth it and gaining vitality a lot quicker. I don’t know if this works for anyone else, or Androids either. Maybe someone could test it out (that has it already) and post results. Hope this does work for others. (Also I have found that if I use it a lot in a day, by the afternoon- and I live in Australia -that it won;t work anymore, but does refresh at 0400). Good Luck

    1. Huh, interesting. Someone also said leaving certain fruit or other items (anything that activates the capacitive touch) can be used to get the most out of midas tap too

  67. Thank you for all your hard work! I’ve copied-and-pasted the Hidden Fish information into a word processing document so I could print it off and have it with me as I played the game. Hope that’s ok with you.

    1. That’s fine! You can use “add to home screen” in your mobile browser to add the site/guide to your phone too. At least on android you can access it entirely offline that way!

      1. Thanks, SIr Tap Tap. I have an IPhone and play on my iPad mini. I printed off the list of Hidden Fish information and started checking them off. I have 21 of the little hummers! Many of those I was able to get because of your directions.

      2. Oh, and I was able to get the Marlin. I had seen the Marlins streaking around once before and wondered where they came from, but because of your directions, as soon as I saw them again, I stopped what I was doing, went to the camera and took a picture.

  68. Hey SirTapTap, just wanted to let you know that the urchin amounts for the Domino Damsel through Strawberry Dottyback are wrong – they only cost 5 urchins, not 15. Also the info on the Legendary Sunfish under the Anniversary Event header is no longer accurate; the dude seems to be gone for good ;_:

  69. I’ve probably opened this site 15 times today, thank you so much for it.
A question regarding the fishes that need 50 tangs and 30 angels. You said that fusion fish will count towards the total, but you use up one fish as an “ingredient” so the overall total stays the same does it not?

    1. Yes, they won’t increase your total, but they won’t lower it which was the fear. Overall fusing is still the fastest way to get the angel/tang since it speeds up vitality along the way.

  70. How can I get the red leafy sea dragon? I have my notifications on, but it isn’t giving me one, and I changed the time too on several occasions

  71. Update on the whale shark. I got the notification to get it twice, but didn’t unlock it until I had enough fish to unlock the thresher shark and zebra bullhead shark.

    1. The notification only works for the first 15 minutes, if it had been waiting for a while you might have just missed it

  72. Something I noticed with the Assistant Otter if it hasn’t been mentioned already. It says 5 random resources 5 times a day, which is really 5 times in succession one after another as opposed to spread out throughout the day, so you can just collect the resources right away. Another thing to note is you can get whichever resource you want instead of it being random. All you have to do is look at the icon for which material it’s currently producing, if it’s not the one you want, just put it away and then take it back out, it will most likely change to a different one. Just rinse and repeat all 5 times for the resource you really need. Most likely urchin is the one everyone would want since it’s new and take forever relatively. 50 extra urchin a day is pretty good.

    1. Yeah I mentioned it’s only 5 times not 5 times a day in the update and the description.

Didn’t know that you could force it to change though, that’s super useful to know! Thanks and I’ll add that in

  73. Thanks to your guide (and copious free time during the hurricane this weekend), I have been playing for six days, and got past the O Vitality hump tonight. I bought the lionfish package and did some free gem deals to speed me along, but I wanted to let you know how much this info helped!

Almost forgot to add: the actual reason I commented again was that I got the Mahi Mahi unlocked just now. Very strange since I’ve only been playing six days! I may have had the app forgotten running in the background, and I left it running only one night for the Convict Tang, and just tonight I was up late enough to open the app twice at midnight. Never cheated my clock or anything. That adds up to a maximum number of maaaaaybe seven times it might have been running at 0:00. Thought you might like to know!

One question I have: have you encountered anyone reporting that pictures saved or shared are just solid black images instead of cute fish? That has been rather a bummer.

    1. Congrats! Always happy to help!

Yeah the Mahi Mahi is just buggy, they never fixed it.

Haven’t heard of that bug, might be a permissions issue? iOS and Android have different permissions locations bt it might not be set to allow pictures or something.

  74. This guide is spectacular. Thank you for it!

Wanted to chime in that the Lionfish counted towards shares for the Camel Cowfish for me just now.

  75. Hi Sir TapTap
i realized that the achievements for surging vitality starting from the Tier 3 CZ, the next vitality level is always 15 letters away. Maybe you can verify it so that there is no need to continue listing beyond Tier 4?

    Tier 3 Levels:
    CD + 22 –> CZ,
    CZ + 15 –> DO,
    DO + 15 –> ED,
    ED + 15 –> ES

    Tier 4 Levels:
    ES + 15 –> FH,
    FH + 15 –> FW,
    (?) Prediction: FW + 15 –> GL

    1. I figured it’d stop like that at some point, but it wasn’t as clear as the other vitality achievements (but maybe it is and I miscounted, it’s also harder to work with letters). I think that’s correct though, thanks for confirming!

  76. About to die in hurricane Irma but just wanted to let you know that you’re the best person I know, you got a cute cat, and if I manage to survive I’ll be sure to come back to read your guide on Tap Tap Fish when it updates.

  77. does the seaweed and clam glitch still work? I just started the game 2 days ago. Any glitches still working that I can use? takes forever to buy fish.

    1. Glitch stopped after the update. I use the clock trick on Spirit Of Life. Set your time back on your clock to reset the Spirit Of Life

      1. how far back do i set it? So if i start spirit of life at like 2:00pm set it back 3 hours, Spirit of Life goes on for 3 hours until it hits 2:15pm, then it ends?

          1. Doesn’t that mostly prevent you from using skills and getting farming materials? Seems like the benefits would be kinda limited these days

    2. No, that was fixed like two months ago. The game’s deliberately slow, just follow the usual advice and focus on “tap” vitality with craters, fusion fish, Delicious Food, Song of the Moon

  78. just fyi, i was sitting around with the game open and got a pop-up for “hidden fish revealed” but it was the valentinni’s sharpnose puffer.

it said the “conditions to appear” were “The aquarium has released a fir fish and lasted for 60 minutes”, which doesn’t make a lot of sense – just thought you’d like the info

    1. It’s a bug, it’s not a hidden fish at all. The actual requirement is sea urchin farm and 2 easter smooth boxfish

      1. i don’t have the eastern boxfish though- and i didn’t have the sea urchin farm at the time, either. sorry, i should’ve been more descriptive in my original comment!

        1. Huh, guess it’s just a weird bug then. It does seem to unlock properly with 2 boxfish and the urchin farm, maybe it accidentally has 2 unlock requirements or something weird.

    2. I got the same notification randomly sitting around with the game open, even though I had already unlocked and fused a valentinni’s sharpnose puffer 2 days ago. Seems like it’s really random and buggy…

      1. Huh. Not really surprised when the game is buggy anymore, just surprised that other things work, lol.

  79. Wanted to say thanks for the guide, it’s been a huge help, but also wanted to note that I didn’t get around to making the legendary sunfish after unlocking it during the anniversary event, and unfortunately no longer have the ability to do so.

Kinda wondering if this is merely a bug on my end, or if that version did actually expire, possibly only if you hadn’t made one?

    1. Looks like they removed it from the game entirely even for people who had it before the anniversary event. No idea if it’s a “bug” or just them being jerks tbh.

  80. VIEW AERIAL VIEW IN CAMERA MODE FOR STRIPED MARLIN! I’ve been setting my phone against my computer for about FOUR MONTHS to spot this damned fish. I followed this forum & tried the camera mode at SIDE VIEW for about 2 weeks. Today I figured to view from the aerial view and they came in about 15 minutes! My entire world changed while my heart stopped beating in shock!

      1. Bonito showed up almost immediately (2 hours after) getting the update, pretty sure its’ vastly more likely to appear than marlin

  81. Just curious if any of the Abyssrium “hacks” or “codes” are legit? I love to support the dev, but not enough to spend $60, $100 on premium fish. If there’s another way to get humpback whale I’ll take it, but most/all of the “hack” sites seem like malware traps :I

    1. Probably not, I’d stay away from all that stuff. You’d get bored of the fancy ridiculously expensive fish in a day anyway

  82. For me, the bonito showed up when my sea urchins were ready to be harvested so maybe it’s like every 2 hours

  83. Took me so long to unlocked the legendary sunfish
Didn’t have enough vitality to unlock it, but it’s gone now 🙁

    1. Huh, yeah looks like they straight up removed it entirely, which is absurd. Before the anniversary event anyone who unlocked it could buy more as long as they want.

      1. 😂guess I’ll need to wait till next time when it comes back again.
And thanks a lot for the guide btw it’s been very helpful since I’ve started playing the game 🙂

      1. Cool I just need to get a couple more mega mouth then I have completed all of the collections and I haven’t even been playing 70 days yet

  84. How do I get me ga mouth please? I’ve managed to get to this point of having green kelp and nearly completing collection level 4 in 68 days

    1. Thanks, just figured it out myself too (looks like the update is out for everyone?). The description is just nonsense and it’s not “hidden” at all. Corrected the guide

  85. I’m having trouble with the convict tang!! I’ve left the game up and running for over an hour multiple times with no result. I’ve tried with power saver on and off, tried without touching anything upon opening and tried with opening and a few taps prior to the hour of waiting. I’m playing on iPad iOS, anyone else having trouble?

    1. We literally have no idea, it’s ingame description is complete nonsense (but it is included in the fusion fish section). Most people just get it almost immediately after buying the sea urchin farm though

  86. Hey SirTapTap – Here’s the nitty gritty on the new update:

Domino damsel requires 2 Juvenile Pinnate Spadefish, 100 seaweed, 20 clams, and 5 urchins; vitality bonus is 25%
Black and White Chromis requires 2 Cross Damsel; cost and bonus is the same as the Domino Damsel
Strawberry Dottyback requires 2 Orchid Dottyback; cost and bonus is the same as the Domino Damsel
Foureye Butterfly requires 2 Burgess Butterfly, 100 seaweed, 40 clams, and 5 sea urchins; bonus 35%
Longnose Butterfly requires 2 Raccoon Butterfly; cost and bonus is the same as Foureye Butterfly
Porcupine Puffer requires 2 Camel Cowfish, 100 seaweed, 40 clams, 10 sea urchins; bonus: 40%
Valentinni’s Sharpnose Puffer requires 2 Eastern Smooth Boxfish, 100 seaweed, 20 clams, 20 urchins; bonus: 40%
Sindonis Seahorse requires 2 Orange Seahorse, same cost and bonus as Valentinni’s Puffer
Bonito requires no “base fish”, cost 600 seaweed, 90 clams, 45 urchins; 15% bonus
Marine Otter requires no “base fish”, cost 400 seaweed, 60 clams, 30 urchins; 10% bonus
I don’t have data on the lobster yet since I haven’t unlocked it.
Also, the cost of all the other fusion fish has increased – so all the clownfish now cost 50 seaweed instead of 30, gobys are now 50 seaweed + 10 clams instead of 60 seaweed, tangs are 75 seaweed + 10 clams instead of 30 seaweed + 10 clams, damsels are 100 seaweed + 20 clams instead of 60+10, and angels are 100 + 40 instead of 60+15

    1. Oops forgot to reply to this; have all the fish just hadn’t bothered to add all the material requirements, lots of busywork…adding those now though, thanks!

  87. Whats funny is that the valentines event ended on my birthday, also on the moorish idol one,you wrote “reportonly” instead of “report only”

  88. Any tips for the update yet please I’m loving the otters just wish we didnt have to wait so long for the urchin farm to produce thanks

        1. The Assistant Otter produces 5 random resources 5 times a day, I don’t think there’s any secret to it other than I assume the game must be open to do it and I assume you only get one no matter how many otters or you can only make one.
Don’t have the update but other than the hidden fish I dont’ think there’s many relevant tips to be had, I don’t think the non-premium otter collects things and I’m sure there’s no way to speed up sea urchin production without completely wasting pearls

      1. According to a facebook post no halloween event this year. But yes the update is almost certainly coming next week. They said it’s a “fall” event

  89. So I obtained all but one of the “Start AbyssRium upon notification” fish and for some reason no matter how many times I open a notification I’m not unlocking the Whale Shark. I already have star horn coral so is my game broken or is this happening to everyone else?

    1. Actually unlocked the Whale Shark today! I was watching an ad and I closed my AbyssRium app then once I opened it back up it gave me the notification that I had unlocked a fish.

      1. Huh, at least you got it. THe whale shark just seems drastically less likely to appear than the others.

  90. I connected to facebook in the game and I have 5 real friends’ aquariums showing up under that area, but the juvenile pinnate spadefish is not unlocking. Any ideas?
Edit: nevermind, it showed up in the fish creation tab after all. I just didn’t see the pop up for it like usual when something unlocks. Hmm.

    1. Yeah that seems to happen sometimes. Not sure if it can happen to all unlocks or only some. Pretty sure it’s the cause of some conspiracy theories people come up with that certain things “don’t work” when they definitely do.

Glad you got the fish at least! The bugs make the game a real pain sometimes

  91. A bit late since event ends soon but I’ve found the best way to tap vitality on fish that venture off screen (sunfish for example) is to go into expend view zoom out and scroll around. In this view you can still tap vitality! 😀

    1. store everything that isn’t a sunfish and you should get it a lot faster. People kept saying that trick prevents you from getting the sunfish so I didn’t include it at first, but the real thing is the counter is actually way over 100 to unlock the legendary sunfish

        1. Not sure if joke or serious, but someone suggested it might closer to 500 on Facebook. I’d just keep tapping in one session until you get it. Helps to have up to 3 sunfish (be sure you’re using the normal ones you buy with vitality). Might have to be online for it to work too, might as well be paranoid

        2. Interesting. Might be some taps you miscounted, so possibly 400-500 indeed. Hate when they do things like that, make the ingame descriptions wrong, even AFTER you’ve already gotten the fish

  92. Hello Sir Tap Tap! I’m having a problem unlocking the anniversary tuxedo dolphin in the game. I have all event fish but the dolphin and next the cake whale. I’ve shared the dumbo elephant picture a jillion times with no result? When I take a photo, the only share option is automatically Instagram, so I don’t know how to choose anything else, but I’ve taken, shared, and saved pictures of this dang octopus sooo many times. Without the dolphin, I can’t get the whale and the event is ending in 7 days! Should I contact tech support? Do you have any suggestions? Love your page, we visit all the time for info….thanks for everything!

    1. You probably don’t have the anniversary theme equipped, it’s required. Just buy and wear all 3 theme items in the Palette tab, it’s where you got the cake hat to get the candle seahorse

  93. For the whale shark, I agree that it seems to need the star horn coral. However, I think it may also require that you have 65 total fish.
I set my 31 minute timer many times and the game did not unlock the fish until I unlocked the great white. After 65 total fish, first try with the timer and I got it.

    1. That would be an annoying requirement but it’s possible. If they don’t show the coral requirements it’s always possible there’s more unlisted ones. I really wish they wouldn’t do this stuff.

  94. Awesome site! I have a few questions though. First when I started I played the clam spinner things where you get free fish. I won 3 fish but they didn’t show up in my manage fish tab like it said they would. Any idea as to why? Also to get the convict hidden fish when you have to keep the app open for 1 hour any idea on how to do that on Samsung. My sceen shuts off after 10 minutes and I don’t know how to keep it on longer. Thank you!

    1. They’re in the manage fish tab, there’s separate tabs for normal/fusion/event/premium fish.

Plug your phone in and it’ll usually stay on as long as an app is open, check your settings for an option to keep the screen off. If all else fails search for “android debug mode”, you can disable screen-off temporarily with that

  96. So I’m 100 days in, and have used your guide throughout roughly the whole time. It was so helpful, I’ve now done it all: I’ve gotten all the fish; gotten the 1000 year old blue whale; set my fish and coral up just the way I like it; and completed all the ocean levels! However, I was wondering, what do I do now? I was thinking of kind of just going in to collect pearls but not buying any fish and getting too much more vitality as I thought maybe I’d just wait for the next update?

Also, I finally managed to actually sign in to this comment section lol, for some reason it would never let me sign in with Facebook :P.

    1. Happy to help, and congrats!

And yeah I barely/don’t play in these lulls between updates, I just collect my daily pearls and some cake or even don’t play at all, and wait for the next update. I actually recently got an english translated rom of Pokemon Trading Card Game 2 for gameboy on my phone so I could play that since I’m more or less “done” with my idle games for now

  97. For some reason the legendary mola mola/sunfish is not unlocking for me 🙁 I definitely clicked sunfish’s vitality more than 100 times, but nothing! Anyone with any tips, or is the event considered over? It keeps saying classified

    1. Just keep tapping the cakes and make sure you’re using the non-event sunfish. The counter appears to be far more than 100. It’s definitely still in the game.

  98. I got a notification to go find 3 baby fish. I don’t know what to do to find these hidden babies. I tried all the usual stuff, taking pictures of the cake whale, party sunfish, and balloon shark whale and sharing them. Tried tapping the corners, etc. nothing worked. Any clue?

    1. It’s just referring to the three baby fish already in the event section, there’s nothing new. They have a real knack for writing “hints” that contain negative information.

You need 5 of the event sun fish/whale shark/whale to unlock it no different from last week

        1. They’re not new, they’re the same baby fish that launched with the event 2 weeks ago. If you already had all of the event fish there’s nothing new to do. AbyssRium just has horrible english and horrible ideas for “teaser” notifications.

      1. Thanks so much! I love your help, this is the one and only game I play and would have never been this far along without your help!! Great job.

  99. What are all of the normal fish that I need to collect in order to achieve the 1000 years old blue whale?

      1. Because I have all except 2 hidden fish and all of the normal fish collected yet it says I still have at least 20 more to go.

        1. You’re probably missing all of the January fish that require the special coral…they’re all in the hidden fish list though. Just keep scrolling, the list is complete.

  100. How do I get the tuxedo dolphin? Have tried sharing photo three times to no avail… what am I doing incorrectly?

  101. I’m on FS and it’s miserable. It’s gonna take about 10 Skills w/ SoL to buy a fish

    1. Yuck. Kinda glad I’ve been lazy and I’ve been staying around E_ and saving up Fusion Fish for when there’s actual new fish to buy. Sucks to be caught in a stretch that’s slow when there’s new fish to get, I was like that when the january fish were added.

  102. It may just be me, but I feel like once you reach DA, or maybe even just after CS, progress goes quite fast? I’m almost up to DL and the time it’s taken between the pink tree coral and the giant green kelp, is so, so much less, compared to the time between the orange blade coral and the pink tree coral.

Also, I was just wondering, when you mentioned that the cakes will get carried over to the next event, does that mean the Halloween event as candy, or next year’s anniversary event?

    1. The game has it’s ups and downs with Vitality. Never explicitly noted them too often since I’m not sure where they all are. But after CS and down until 5 or so letters before DL yes, it goes quite fast as you get two 500% vitality boosts from achievements. By default though, the game slows down as it progresses and pretty much only the vitality achievements and Fusion fish/craters counter that to speed it up.

All events share the same currency; there actually hasn’t been any even that’s repeated yet, but Halloween’s events went to Christmas’ etc.

  103. Ive just reached 3000 with you coralite yet I queen angel hasn’t appeared. Do i need a lot anything else? Ive tried closing the same down and re opening but still nothing.

    1. It’s the Fragile Staghorn coral that needs to be 3000, not the Coraltie. You should be pretty close though, I think.

  104. First i want to thank you for your great guides♡ Ure such a amazing person to make detailed guides and vedios for tips. I do want to mention about the getting the migaloo. It said event fishes are not included but when i shared the picture of the anniversary seahorse, the migaloo achievement popped up. Maybe only the 1st anniversary fish counted. I just wanted to inform you that😘
    Thank you again!
Im still trying to get the striped marlin 😭😭😭

    1. Had you just unlocked the coral for Migaloo? It counts fish before you get the coral but won’t pop up until you share again, if you just got the coral it was probably just the first time it had actually checked?
And thanks, happy to help! Good luck with the marlin, it sucks =/

  105. I’ve discovered 2 event fish for the 1st Anniversary event (I don’t know if anyone else has already discovered and reported them). The first is a Balloon Blue Tang, which you get from watching 15 videos where you get 50 cakes/candies. The second one I’ve found is an Afro Mirror Ball Fish, which you unlock by tapping the top right corner of the screen 200 times during the Song of the Moon ability. Hope this helped!

    1. All the event’s fish are discovered and listed in the Anniversary event section. Thanks though!

  106. Hello.. have a question.. it’s my first event… So if I save a lot of cakes(candies).. are these gonna be useful in the next event or not??? Thanks

  107. for hidden fish, it says Naso Tang – “obtain 50 tangs” and Pep Angel – “own 30 angels”. is there a difference between “obtain” and “own”?

    1. No, just have to have X of each. Noticed I usually use “own” so I edited the tangs to match the more common wording

  108. Im starting a believe that having the blue table coral before you can get a marlin is true. I have done everything advised yet nothing. This is the 4th day and still nothing. Also is there any way to get to AC vitality quicker? Im on AB vitality please any advice would be awsome

    1. It’s absolutely false, multiple people have reported getting it with only the Star Horn, even after the update. It’s just insanely rare, there’s really nothing you can do.

And make sure you do the daily missions, buy Craters, upgrade Song of the Moon/delicious food, and make fusion fish.

      1. Thats a relief i will just keep doing what Im doing and hopefully sooner or later on will pay off. Thanks for the advice on the vitality

  109. Any idea how to get the juvenile pinnate spade fish? It appears to be a hidden normal fish after the naso tang.
I am also trying to get the spotted mandarin dragonet, but I can’t seem to get the notifications. I’ve tried all the hacks mentioned in the link.
    Your guide is awesome, btw!!!

    1. It’s in the Hidden Fish list in the guide. You need 5 facebook friends that plat the game (Kim is a bot and doesn’t count)

    1. It’s usually 3-4 weeks. But we don’t really know, they only ever tell us about a week before it ends. But there’ll be a countdown before it ends

  110. Thank you for this guide! I’ve been intermittently toodling along on this game since last summer, and I really needed the reminders to take care of my wrists. I’m… surprised that the bulk level option on the coral is actually more expensive. I’ll be sure to do the math on this sort thing instead of just trusting people in the future.

“You are a pirate” made me laugh. :’)

Note on the Tiny Luck Shell: I personally like it for the fish! The odds of getting one aren’t /vanishly/ small; I’ve gotten some of my favorite fish from it, including a bone whale.

    Thanks again!

    1. Glad you appreciated the guide! I noticed my wrists hurting a bit early on when I was super into the guide so I thought I’d slip some self-care reminders in there.

Yeah the bulk thing is weird. Not even sure if it’s intentional on their part.

  111. Hello! Love the guide! I can’t find the anniversary fusion fish, which tab are they under? Will I need to get all the regular and hidden cake fish before I can fuse some baby fish? Thanks!

    1. You have to work your way up inorder to get the fusion fishes. There are three baby fish (sunfish, shark, and whale). In order to unlock the fusion version, you have to have 5 of the Event version of the three fishes above. Once you have, for example 5 party sunfish, the baby fusion sunfish will be available on the Event category.

      1. Yep, they’re in the Event tab, I guess I should make a note. I was confused too until I unlocked the first

  112. Hi! I have found an easy/easier method for unlocking the legendary sunfish. The method is as follows:
Acquire three or four sunfish, then store all fish but sunfish. Since sunfish swim around the screen in wide circles, they often go out of the screen, thereby making it difficult to tap on them. To make it easier to continuously tap their candies/hearts, *go into the “Expand” tab*. The Expand tab allows you to zoom out further, viewing a wider area than the default, while still allowing you to tap on fish. You can use the pan and zoom to follow the sunfish around the perimeter and keep on tapping them.
Using this method I unlocked legendary sunfish in under an hour of gameplay (I wasn’t really timing anything but it did take less than a day, and I was just pulling up the app while waiting for other things). Hope this helps!

  113. Hello!! I got a notification that I had acquired the Afro Mirror Ball fish but I can’t find it in my list of fish to create it! Please help! Thanks so much! 😁

  114. Hey Sir Tap Tap!

I’m just wondering if you or the community experienced a huge speed drop around the end of A… and the beginning of B… I use to gain 50 levels + 2 fishes during the early to mid A… vitality levels but now that I just hitted C… it’s super slow. One skill rotation would normally equate to a few levels and a 1/4 of a fish.

Just curious on whether or not this is the pace that it should be or i’m doing something wrong. Doesn’t matter too much right now since all I do is farm for the anniversary cakes ((:

    Thank you!

    1. Yes, and it used to be far slower–often only one or two coralite levels per cast of skills. Due to craters/fusion fish you’re probably doing far better than it used to be.

The game just slows down and speeds up at points. the general direction is a slowdown and only turns up if you buy craters/fusion fish or get the vitality achievements. Speeds up for a good while after CS though

  115. How can I gain more pearls without having to buy them? & is there faster way to get cakes? I spend so much time on this game tapping cakes to get these fish, I really am trying to get them all. I’ve had this game for a week & cant seem to put it down. It also lags up a lot when I try to watch videos & I have to click out of them game & go to it again.

    1. Hey Tristin,

Great that you picked up this game and also in the midst of such a great event. The game is buggy over the last weekend but it was recently repaired so everything should be working fine now. The lagginess and the issues you have with watching ads happens to me sometimes too. I would recommend you check your wifi strength or close other apps when playing the game. Side note, since the app was crashing all over last weekend, check your inbox, the game offered 300 pearls for free for the inconvenience!

In terms of pearls, unfortunately there isn’t any super fast way of getting them. I wouldn’t recommend buying them neither since the amount you spend don’t feel all that worth to get the pearls (if you were to spend money definitely buy the Corgi. super cute) The best way to get pearls is to complete the fish collection and also do the free spin as much as possible. The fish collection even though it is rather hard to complete and targets players who played for a while, you can categorize your fish production to complete the collection to get pearls. The other BEST way is to do the free spin. You get a chance of 10, 50, or 100 Pearls if you’re super lucky.

      Hope this helps!

    2. Do the daily missions to get the pearls, it’s in the trophy menu. The Collection gets you some too.

Make sure you’re using the best method to get cakes btw, it will save you an absurd amount of time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3b6KGD7QAU

Yeah the current release is buggy as all heck and crashes constantly. It’s usually buggy, but this is probably the worst it’s ever been.

  116. Question. Have you seen or heard anything abouta “Ledgendary Sun Fish”? Because i have the anniversary update, but i just found this under the norman sun fish with unknown requirements and a “classified” cost.

    1. Yes, it’s in the guide, and actually not a new fish. It was brought back for this event. Tap the normal sunfish’s vitally/cake over 100 times into you get it

      1. I’ve been tapping sunfish cakes for 3 skill rotations now and i’m assuming that’s atleast 100 times but still nothing. Do you know whether or not I have to do the tapping not during Song of The Moon?

        1. It’s a lot more taps than you’d think, I’d just keep going. Some people think you need to turn on airplane mode to get “vitality” hearts instead of cake, but as far as I can tell that’s superstition. The game is very bad at tracking unlocks and if you know for sure you’re using the right method just keep at it for a bit and it’ll usually work.

Also make sure you’re only tapping NORMAL sunfish. The event sunfish do not count.

          1. I definitely got it while getting cake so it just takes a while. It’s easy to miscount when going up to 100. Just do more, and it’ll probably come.

I kept track by making note of my current cake count and then tracking what it would be after 100. (with song of the moon it was 25 cakes per sunfish cake tap)

          2. Thanks for the confirm, I keep seeing conspiracy theories about how you have to do it (someone else suggested that using Expand’s camera panning makes it not work–99% sure that’s false too) so it’s good to have it confirmed.

  117. Just wanted to say your guide is AMAZING. I just got the marlin after about three or four weeks of playing; I have the blue table coral.

    Thank you!

  118. There’s a hidden “Balloon Blue Tang” with the 1st anniversary event. To reveal it you have to watch an ad at the event tab to get cake 15 times 🙂

    1. You can also get an “Afro Morror Ball Fish” by tapping the upper right corner of the screen x200 during Song of The Moon.

  119. So i tried to get the legendary sunfish by taping 100 on the event sunfish and it doesnt work should i try again or should i grind for the legit sunfish ?

    1. It’s mentioned in the guide, event fish have never and presumably will never work for these unlocks, so yep gotta use the real sunfish.

  120. I found a new fish by tapping the upper right hand corner 200 times during the moon. Afro mirror ball fish. It’s for the current event cost 1.2a 7/30/2017

    1. The Hidden Anniversary Event Fish list posted above …

      Balloon Blue Tang
Watch the ad to get Cake 15 times
      500 Cake

      Afro Mirror Ball Fish
200 taps in the top right corner during the Song of the Moon
      1,200 Cake

      Dress Dumbo Octopus
Create Candle Seahorse with Candle Hat equipped (if you already made one, equip the hat and make another)
      2,400 Cake

      Tuxedo Dolphin
Share 3 Dress Dumbo Octopus pictures with 1st Anniversary Night theme equipped
      3,600 Cake

  121. On Facebook:

    “Dear fans!
Thanks for playing Abyssrium Sorry for your inconvenience.

We just fixed server issue again. Now it can be work normally. Thank you for your patience with us and your support.
In order to apologize, we will compensate in tomorrow.”

Any idea what the compensation is?

    1. No, as usual we won’t know what they’ll do until they do it since their communication is so bad

      1. I just got the compensation. It’s 300 pearls! Any recommendations on what to use them for if I already have one of each crater?

  122. ALso for marlin I believe if your ocean is “full” then they won’t appear. Put all fish away or just keep out a few until you unlock it.

  123. Legendary Su fish- put all your fish away, buy at least three sunfish to keep vitality coming up constantly on the most amount of fish (three) that it does. I bought 7 cause these little sneaks like to swim off the screen, and vitality won’t go to another fish u tip clicked or until timer runs out of it.

Work on this for like 10 minutes, clicking them, and you got your legendary sunfish.

  124. Have baby Killer Whales, largely from tons of candy saved from last event. Today I’ve made a good dent to baby sunfish, but may wait until I get baby sperm whales instead.

Yesterday the only two times of the day (morning, night) I could play had server issues so I didn’t make any progress. Not a huge deal. Glad I have my Song of the Moon maxed as the prices are so high…. And glad I only liked the sea butterflies from last event as it gave me a boost on this one to have so much saved.

    1. Yeah, they had huge server issues yesterday. Seems okay today. And yeah, very glad I maxed my Song of the Moon before they removed Android Quests

  125. The connection to the game has been pretty buggy since the last update– I’ll open the app and most windows will say “no connection” and vitality appears above the fish rather than cake. Pretty sure the problem isn’t on my end as I’m connected to wifi and can load other things. It even loaded this in Korean when I’m in America!!! Any tips? Is anyone else experiencing this? (iOS https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2c443088ebcfe4f5789e110e306e5e5dd03b7edf4ac65768e75a380bdb950c25.png )

    1. Pretty sure they’re just having server problems. It just started happening today for me, and I’ve had the update for like 3 days.

    1. I thought I mentioned it, but I’ll double check. it reduces the Create Fish price by that amount. It’s not really as good as it sounds, they still rise by 3.5x every new fish, so basically just just gets you one or two fish faster.

  126. After a day or so playing the 1st year Birthday event, The skills recharge button stopped working. It causes the sound to stop. Any advice?

    1. Usually just means the ad failed to load, if you see a little X in the top right of the screen tap it to close the failed “ad” that didn’t load, otherwise try closing the app and try again.

  127. I’ve been playing for about a month now and for some reason I have never been able to ” save an image” of a fish. I need this, as you know to get the hammerhead as well as other fish. Any idea what’s happening? Thank you! and thanks for this walkthrough! It’s been incredibly helpful.

    1. It’s possible you disallowed the permission to the app, check the permissions pages in your OS’s settings app

    1. Yeah, their staged rollout crap is infuriating and seems pointless. Last time they had a major bug in an early release they still rolled it out to everyone without fixing it anyway.

  128. Can see update if I use a browser, but if I go to google store, it has no update (still only 1.4.4). I’ve wiped cache (both google store/services) and tap tap fish, but doesn’t help.

Hope it shows up in the next couple days at least.

  129. Hi, so regarding the newest update I’ve tapped the sunfishs vitality over 100 times and havent unlocked the legendary sunfish. Any ideas?

    1. Do you have the update (the event tab must be active), does the legendary sunfish show as active in the event fish category and are you sure you’re tapping only sunfish vitality? I assume the event sunfish don’t count for it

        1. Well okay i just unlocked it, i played mola mola and then tapped the sunfish vitality and it unlocked! Dont know if its connected to molamola or not though. Also, great page keep up the good work!

          1. The game’s pretty flaky at tracking unlocks, we’re pretty sure Survive Mola Mola isn’t required, it probably just didn’t track enough taps yet

          2. Agreed, flaky is a good word. Good rule of thumb, if you think you’ve unlocked something, close and restart the game, then check for the item in your fish tab (don’t depend on the pop-up screen – those are more flaky than the unlocks!).

  130. Unlike with the last few events, the Corgi does not count towards the final whale fish. BUT it does give extra bonuses.

  131. Update:
The Afro Mirror Ball Fish is obtained by tapping the upper right corner 200x during song of the moon

  132. Hi Sir Tap Tap,
For some reason I (luckily) got the Anniversary event early and thought I would share the names of all the fishes. I don’t know how to get them all yet of course but here are the names and what I know
    Cake Goby – 300 cake
    Balloon Clownfish – 300 cake
    Balloon Blue Tang – ??
    Cake Grouper – 3 Cake Goby – 900 cake

    Congratulating Corgi- Event Package fish

Costume: Candle Hat – 1.000A cake
Dye: Cake Dye (Candles and balloons) 500 cake
Theme: 1st Anniversary Night 500 cake

    Hope that helps!!

  133. The new Cake Goby is 300 cake (the new candy), the Balloon Clownfish is 300cake, the Cake Grouper is 900 cake. In the themes, the Candle Hat was 1K cake, and the Cake Dye and Anniversary Night were 500 cake each.

    1. Unlocking the Cake Grouper requires 3 Cake Goby. It costs 900 cake.
Party Blowfish requires 3 Balloon Clownfish and costs 900 cake.
Cake Cuttlefish requires 10 “Cake Fish” (NOT just event fish!)
Candle Seahorse requires 20 “Event Fish.”
      Jellofish requires 30 Event Fish.
Party Blow Mahi Mahi requires 40 Event Fish.
      Cake Turtle requires 5 Jellofish.
Party Sunfish requires 50 Event Fish.
Balloon Whale Shark requires 60 Event Fish.
Cake Whale requires 15 Event Fish Types. (NOT babies.)

      1. Hidden:
~The Afro Mirror Ball Fish appears after 200 taps int he upper right corner during the Song of the Moon. ( I had the Anniversary theme purchased and enabled, not sure if that’s required.) Costs 1.200 A cake.
The Ball gown Dumbo Octopus is unlocked by generating the Candle Seahorse while wearing the party hat. It costs 2.4A cake.

  134. Not sure if anyone else has commented on this, but the mahi mahi can be gotten in one night by closing out and opening the app 10 times after midnight. At least that worked for me. I just got it at 12:14.

  135. Just wondering if it’s possible to get images of each fish onto this guide somehow? Would be a nice touch 🙂 thanks for the indepth guide!

    1. I could probably put them in a second page or something if people would find it useful…you can see them ingame once you’ve unlocked them too though. I don’t like putting images in here because of mobile load times. I could try to make some sort of gallery some time though

  136. How about the spotted mandarin dragonet? I just got it and I have no idea how I even got that thing😂

    1. It’s in the guide–it’s a “notification fish”. If you didn’t see a notification your device probably isn’t getting them properly (common with iphones) but you happened to open the app while the check was valid.

  137. This might be a silly question. My sm. sandcastle is +110% for 63 pearls, Md. sandcastle is MAX, lg sandcastle is +100% for 180 pearls.

Would I be better off maxing my sm. because it’s cheaper?

    1. The math is pretty easy; Lg sandcastle/crater is 5x the boost of small, so unless the small is 1/5th of the price, it’s more efficient to upgrade the large. Short term you’d see the benefit faster, but I’d recommend going by the 5x price rule, easier to go by.

I’d only do sandcasltes after maxing craters personally though. Per tap matters so much more because of Delicious Food.

  138. Hi people! I’ve been using this guide and it has been amazingly helpful!! But I can’t unlock the Mystery Chest hidden fish. I’ve followed the guide above (click on the chest so the camera focuses on it) but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? Or has anyone else had this problem?

    1. It’s a common problem, try taking pictures of a few different mystery chests and try both saving and sharing just to be sure. We’re not exactly why it doesn’t trigger but AbyssRium is just a buggy game so it’s no surprise.

      1. Thanks for that. I’ve tried sharing but not saving. I will try that instead. I’ve only been playing for 7 days, so still really new at this, trying to work it all out. From your guide and the comments I’ve read I am now thoroughly terrified of the Striped Marlin :O

        1. It’s not anything you’re doing wrong in all likelihood; the game is just pretty buggy. And yeah, the marlin is…just be sure you catch it if you see it. Some people saw it before they knew what it was and missed it.

          1. Haha!! Unlocked Mystery Chest fish!!!!! Tried saving photo – didn’t work. Decided to try sharing BUT to Facebook instead (I’d already completed another hidden fish with Twitter). BINGO! Mystery Chest hidden fish unlocked!! Happy now, because the simplicity of the task and my failure to complete it as such was bugging me.

          2. Huh, strange. Sharing usually doesn’t care at all about the source, and I didn’t have facebook when I got it. I’ll keep that in mind though.

  139. I am trying to find out how to purchase the seaweed farm. I have plenty of pearls, but can’t find where to purchase them. What else do I need to make the farms available? Thanks!

  140. So here I am posting again today. Was wondering if once people are done with the all of the collections and gotten the available fusion fish are they then filling in their fish ranks to try and get art least 5 of each in anticipation of another collection release?

Of course that would have been smart to do from the beginning since I don’t actually need 45 octopuses, 25 marlin and 45 giant sea dragons. I have ignored the ones I don’t care about.

Last post today I promise. I may need a 12 step program to help me stop playing this game.

    1. Hah, post away, there’s already 1200 comments, a few more won’t hurt.

Dunno if they’ll do another collection, but since it was announced I’ve been evening out my fish counts. 5 of just about everything now. I made 60 or so Moon Jellyfish myself, I never do anything with them. More than a few of any one fish ends up looking silly fast anyway, given how many things try to “school” way too close.

      1. Ok so I lied. I forgot about those 20 moon jellyfish, 25 little rabbit astronauts and most ridiculous of all 50 mauve stingers. So I have just one of lots of things. I’m just starting at the top and working my way down. Currently on the blue clownfish so not making great progress.

  141. FH starts a new tier, with the next bump in vitality production at FW. It goes on and on… Thanks for all your help with this game. It’s been invaluable. Thanks also for the tip about waiting a bit to get this last update.

    1. FW? Ouch. Is there any slow periods in between? I’ve been going through letters fairly easy since ES.

      1. The glitch definitely helped move alo g more quickly. There was a time, I can’t remember if it was in the Ds or the Es when things really moved quickly. I was helped a lot by an earlier glitch that gave 100 gems for accepting the challenge but it didn’t move it up to the top. So I ended up with probably 25000 gems before it fixed itself. So I’ve been lucky. That said, I reached FH 2 days ago and I’m at 105J now. I didn’t play hardly at all yesterday and just to complete the daily mission so if you still have the recharging glitch it will be quick. Sorry for the long post.

    2. Thanks for the confirm! Looks like it’s about 2 achievements per “alphabet” at that point then. Wonder how many tiers there are, probably more than can be reasonably reached.

And yeah, the bug is great. I fell on my sword to confirm if the bug was still in so I have the patched version (the REALLY patched version, they also fixed the new exploit the first version of the patch added)

      1. Well it had to happen. And it was very noble of you to take the hit for everyone. I’ll hold off for a while but will eventually install the update

        1. Yeah, once the new farm is out I’d say it’s time to update. No use for extra vitality if you can get the new fish anyway. I stockpiled 2.5k seaweed and made about 60 fusion fish so that’s not too shabby.

  142. after 16,000 coralite it is 18,000 200% boost.
After ES it is FH vitality 200% boost
after 240,000 coral it is 270,000 200% boost

      1. Yeah it works. I have auto updates turned off for my device and I’ve kept a copy of the apk. I haven’t updated to the new 1.4.4 update yet, don’t feel any Reason to as they aren’t adding any extra content.

    1. FH? Wait what? Is that a FOURTH tier again? Because I think I had “all” 3 tiers filled in. Maybe vitality ones go on a really long time now.

        1. Eh, it’s better that they don’t end. There’s less sense of “completion” but it also helps the game from getting even MORE impossible to progress

  143. Just a thought as I’m powering through shares to unlock Migaloo: A new player can simply “share” every newly unlocked fish. Since it gives you the option to take a photo every time a new fish is created, new users can make a habit of sharing each new fish as part of the creation process. By the time they reach Giant Green Kelp, Migaloo will be automatically unlocked.

  144. The Mahi Mahi delay glitch has been fixed… I just tried to get it and it gave the fish to me immediately…

    1. Cool if true! That’s been a bug since…about this time last year. Anyone else had luck with it lately?

        1. I’ll wait for some more confirmation, there’s always been people who’ve got it easier than others, so I’d like to make sure it’s actually consistent now.

  145. My game has been getting choppy lately…I’m having to close it and reopen it so it can run smoothly

  146. I would like to know if anyone else is having the following problems after the last update: I keep getting the following message every few seconds “Unfortunately Tap Tap Fish has stopped working. Report or OK” This happens continuously so that playing is no longer soothing and has become frustrating. For the last couple of weeks my fish are swimming upward in slow motion when tapping. I have to close app and open to get them swimming properly but it only lasts a couple of minutes. I am also unable to scroll up or down on any menu during this time. I believe the game was corrupted at the last update. All my other games are working just fine! Is there hope that this can be corrected?

    1. Yeah it’s been laggy lately. There’s an update to fix the farm refresh exploit, haven’t used it enough to know if it fix the performance bug yet. I’d report it to the devs, though you’re not alone.

      1. Thanks for the response,I reported it about a week ago. I guess I’m just impatient. I’ll give it time.

        1. Ah, their support team is pretty bad tbh. Not surprising. They usually don’t reply to me at all except when I needed a refund on pearls bc the game ate them.

    1. I think it’ll ask again if you tap the Camera button (close the main menu and it’s at the bottom).
Otherwise if you’re on Android go to the Settings app > Apps > Tap Tap Fish >permissions to allow/deny

      1. O first there is no App selection on settings with the iPad and no way to allow TTF from the camera settings there. I have tried several ways to tap the camera icon in TTF. It will not let me save a picture. I did not realize I would need that function to get hidden fishes when I started

      1. I’m sure there’s some way to enable the permission, but I’d just cloudsave the game and delete it and see if that lets you set permissions properly

    2. It is not under privacy camera. I located the setting under privacy -photos. Thank you for trying

  147. Thanks for all the tips! Harvesting Q… when the seaweed and coral are ready, I can’t do both, have to pick. Is this a glitch?

      1. Think they spotted this one, sad times! Might take a bit longer to get those last two corals, but definitely made a decent dent!

  148. I have a friend who has been playing this game every day for a long time. She has not received the Prized Walking Fish. In her Manage Fish tab under Event Fish the the Prized Walking Fish box is blacked out. She is very sad. It is the cutest fish ever!!! Please advise as to how she can obtain this guy!!!

  149. My friend just got a 1000 year old blue whale in a luck shell today (It was one of the free ones they gave when you first start playing). I didn’t know it was possible to get one of those in a luck shell :O She’s so lucky!

    1. Yep, it’s possible and the only “normal” fish it’s in the reel. I felt a bit prouder since I unlocked it the long way though myself

      1. We already know all possible rewards, 10, 50 or 100 Pearls/gems, Vitality, 10KYOBW, or any event fish, but no paid only fish. The blue whale is the “best” prize though arguably the best prize is just whatever you’re missing if anything

  150. It seems the Fusion Tangs count towards the 50 Tang count for the Naso Tang. I just unlocked it with 45 normal Tangs and I had the 5 Fusion Tangs. I’m not sure if the Fusion Angles count for the Peppermint Angle though, as I already had it before the update. Hope this helps someone

    1. Yep, someone else confirmed the angel fish earlier, already updated the sections for those fish! Thanks for the confirm!

  151. With the news update my quests have disappeared. I don’t see that listed here. Is this just me??

    1. Quests are kill. They were depreciated and broken anyway so not surprised, though a bit disappointed, to see the hammer fall.

    1. They’re their own category of fish and are simply listed in the Fusion Fish submenu of the Fish menu with all requirements listed.

  152. Hi! Just to let you know that notification pull down bug is working on apple too – fill up on clams while you can!

  153. Each time a photo is taken new material is created as well, at least on android.

But what to do when you don’t have a Facebook account and not planning on opening one. Any ideas?

    1. Make a fake one and add 5+ of the other literal thousands of fake facebook accounts made just for this game. There’s no way to get it without facebook and no reason to make a real one just for this. Making a fake takes a couple minutes and getting the friends is easy. Just search for an abyssrium group or add people with abyssrium icons.

      1. Thanks. However that is exactly what I was trying to avoid. Well, looks like i have no other opportunity. 😩

  154. I finally caught the buggers!! Thanks for all your help, this guide makes everything much easier and less frustrating! 🐬🦈🐠🐋🐟🐡🐳

  155. Thanks for the guide! It’s been super helpful. I was wondering if you know if the fusion angel fish count towards the peppermint angel or if fusion tangs count towards the naso tang? Thanks!

      1. So I took my chances and turns out they do count towards the hidden fish! It was really great to be able to have the vitality bonuses (although pretty small) as well as the variety in my aquarium while getting the peppermint Angel and the Naso.

  156. I’m confused, my glitch seems to be working another way. First it says my seaweed will take 10mins to complete, then I close the app and when I open it again, the seaweed now says it will take an hour to complete 🙁

    1. The glitch is extremely inconsistent. A few people get that, and sometimes it doesn’t do anything at all. Either way, it’s sure to be fixed soon.

  157. I have a feeling the next collection is going to be fusion fish. I completed all 4 collections but don’t know what fish I should invest in if they’re going to add more

    1. Making more fusion fish is an extremely solid bet since their bonus is so good. And I wouldn’t necessarily assume there will be more collections, at least until there’s more fish. Collections kinda seem like a rando one-off feature so far.

  158. Given the glitch, should I be collecting more clams or seaweed for long term use? Which do you think will be better to have more of once the glitch is fixed?

    1. You need more seaweed overall, but collect a bit of both. It’s easy to have an extremely long term supply of clams since recipes need lots of them. But everything requires seaweed so far so you need a ton of it

  159. This is a tough choice. I like the schooling fish so I have quite a few fusion fish. About half the non shark fish species that I have 10 or more of, are able to be fused. (But I have even more jellyfish and cepholopds)

The problem is, I prefer the originals most of the time. Obviously, I’ll at least do one of each. I mostly need to decide how many more than that.

So, need to decide if I want the vitality boost or original fish more.

I have to get a 2nd fish for most Gobies since I never liked having them as much, and need 53 more fish to complete the 4th collection so I can’t easily replace the angels right now.

But, I’m glad my many Angels have a purpose despite the decision I must make.

    1. Yeah, no matter what you should have plenty of Angelfish to use for fusion by the time you get the peppermint angelfish. Once you get a few fusion fish you’ll get much more vitality and it’ll be easier to buy more normal fish to convert anyway though.

    1. It depends on your goals.

If you want as many types of fish as possible, aim for one of each, and then go back to focusing on getting fish to unlock hidden fish.

If you mean for getting the most vitality, it is useful for sure. The only other consideration are the collections that give you pearls to update the expansion crater, which also increases vitality.

So really, you just have to decide which gives more vitality.

The later collections take a lot of fish so it’s probably more efficient to do fusion than those, but if it doesn’t take many to do the earlier ones, they may be worth going for before fusing them.

      1. The Collections are one time and the Fusions are plentiful, I’d say always complete the collections first then go for Fusion, but it’s no harm to get one of each Fusion fish before getting Collection level 4 if it’s a long ways off. If you’re at, say, Z vitality and the last collection is months away, fusion fish are absolutely more important

    2. There’s not actually a choice, Fusion Fish can only be made from Normal Fish and Fusion Fish don’t cost vitality. They’re entirely separate. Fusion Fish are simply “better” normal fish since they multiply vitality more.

  160. I used to be #1 on my friends rank….lol. Now people on lvl 20,000 – 100,000 are above me dropping me down to 20. Must be a newer glitch we don’t know about yet beside the new ones that are already mentioned here. I want to unfriend them sooooo bad

    1. It’s possible to move very fast with the new Fusion fish glitch since it resets skill recharges, but there have always been people with 100,000 coralite levels and they’re usually just hackers. The game is not unhackable.

  161. mysterious stone after 14k is 16k, 200% bonus
coral of life after 210k is 240k, 200% bonus

    1. Someone’s enjoying the glitch! Do you know roughly the vitality you hit each of those at as well?

      1. im at 14125 coralite level , the next cost is 2.006EI

if i had to guess id say i hit level 14k when it costed mid EG. wanted to get as far as i could before they fix it lol… that wall was rough – 30+ SotM casts for a fish :/

    1. If you convert a fish that was in a collection you’re still completing, yes. If you’ve already completed the collection, no.
