Makai Wars English Guide, Character Info, & Translations

Makai Wars (魔界ウォーズ ) released on Android and iOS (in Japan only)  in February and as a huge fan of Disgaea I started a guide to both get you started quickly despite the language barrier and also detail the more intricate details that are harder to understand without knowing Japanese. The guide will be expanded over time as new info comes in. As always, you can donate to my Patreon to support my guides!

Makai Wars is a simplified Strategy Roleplaying Game much like Disgaea (and half of NIS’ other games), and it’s Asagi’s very own game! For real this time! No really, stop laughing!

Feel free to ask questions or share info in the comments below or chat in the  Makai Wars channel in my Discord server

Guide Updates

Limited Events

Desco XX Event

There’s another drop farming event, beat the final stage of the event missions to collect Mini Descos. Like prior Raid events you get rewards for how many Mini Descos you collect (most notably rubies and orbs later on), and in addition the ranking actually comes with rewards this time.

The most notable range is 3,000-1,001: ranking in this range gets you 100 Desco XX stones, which lets you summon Desco XX for free. Desco XX is a new 2* character, basically Desco with lower stats and different color.

The highest rank (whales only!) gets a full +10 Desco, more realistically 1,000 to 501 gets 200 Desco stones and 500-101 gets 600 stones. Ranking 3,001 to 5,000 gets you 50 Desco stones, and under 5,000 gets no desco stones.

The exact rewards per level can be found by tapping the (i) icon in the top left of the Event Quest menu. You can also check your ranking here. Get into rank 3,000 as soon as you can and spend most of your daily AP on the quest and your rank should stay around even. Of course, log in the last day and see if you need to spam sandwiches to reach the desired rank

Majorita Event

This is just like the Summer Asagi event with it’s own store and daily missions to get extra currency (tap the i icon in the top left of the Event Quest menu to see your mission progress). There’s some great stuff in the store, I recommend the orbs, rubies, sandwiches, and at least one set of Majorita stones.

Unlike Summer Asagi, you can only buy up to 50 Majorita stones, making for either a cheaper summon/Awakening for her, or you can recycle them in the item menu for rainbow stones if you already have/don’t want her.

  • KO 30 (randomly selected element) enemies: 700
  • Sell 3-5 (randomly selected item type, weapons etc): 500
  • Finish 5 quests with Asagi in party: 500
    • Dark Asagi and Summer Asagi both count
  • Clear event quest levels 5 times: 1000
  • Clear all the above missions: 2000
  • Time bonus 6:00 – 12:00 (Japanese time): 300

Given the length of the event (30 days total), if no days were missed you’d get a whopping 150,000 sapphires from dailies alone.

What The Heck Is Makai Wars?

Makai Wars (魔界ウォーズ) is a long-running gag in the Disgaea/NIS community. Originally it was announced as a PSP game for E3 2004 and Asagi was to be the protagonist. It was a no-show. It was later re-announced as a PS3 game, which also never materialized.

Since then Asagi has shown up in a majority of NIS tactical games making cameo appearances, usually searching for her game, Makai Wars. She even got a full “Asagi Mode” side story in Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood (yes that’s a real title).

Finally, in the fateful year of our Overlord 2018, Makai Wars is a real thing and Asagi didn’t lie about it being her game; though it’s basically a Disgaea spinoff title featuring her. It’s a mini-SRPG playing like a simplified version of many of NIS’s other titles, specifically Disgaea.
